On May 31, the following noteworthy events occurred:
- In 1790, US copyright law was enacted
- In 1961, the Republic of South Africa was created
- In 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono record Give Peace a Chance, the first single recorded by a solo Beatle, from their hotel bed

- In 2005, W. Mark Felt admits in the magazine Vanity Fair that he is the anonymous source Deep Throat in the Watergate scandal
- Today is Katie Couric's last day on the NBC Today show after 15 years as host
But most importantly of all, May 31 is the day that
ropo was born. Happy birthday, d00d! My courier should be arriving some time today.

mmm...deep fried cheese...
May. 26th, 2006 01:01 pmHappy birthday to
sjerseytomato!
So I'm such a cheese curds newb that I didn't realize they had to be kept at room temperature, and after 12 hours or so, they are no longer fresh cheese curds but are simply "insufficiently aged cheese." But I still had a container of them, so what was I going to do?? Well ... last night I busted out my deep fryer and made Deep Fried Cheese Curds. If fat getting boiled to a crisp by more fat is wrong, I don't want to be right. They were yummy, and some of the squeak even came back!
Yay for long weekends. I might actually get some (gasp) writing done.

Happy birthday Jade!
Sep. 13th, 2005 01:31 pmToday is the birthday of one of my dearest friends,
jade_okelani. She's been the Julius Campbell to my Gerry Bertier, the Bart to my Milhouse, the Monica to my Rachel, the Kumar to my Harold, the Thrall to my Jaina you get the point, for a number of years now. I don't recall how many, but it's somewhere between 3 and 6. I think.
To paraphrase that bastion of wisdom, Jack Handey, this is what your friendship over the years has meant to me, Jade:
The memories of my adventures with you are still a source of strength to me. I remember we'd pile into a car - I forget what kind it was - and drive and drive. I'm not sure where we'd go, but I think there were some games there. The smell of something was strong in the air as we read whatever book we read. I remember an older, picky girl we called "Robbie." We'd eat some stuff, or not, and then I think we went home. I guess some things never leave you.
On today, the esteemed day of your birth, I am going to name your favorite things. But ah, there's a twist to this game -- I am only going to use the letters of your name! Yes! I know, where do I come up with these fiendish plots?! It's a mystery of life.
Jimmy Fallon
Angel
Disneyland
Eating
Orange Starburst
Kevin Smith
Eric Weiss
Luke/Lorelai
Aragorn
Narnia
Ice cream
( Bonus round! Things Jade doesn't like. :D )

Worst. friend. ever.
Apr. 18th, 2005 03:29 pmIt was
akscully's birthday yesterday and I missed it! WAAAHHHH. I'm the worst friend ever! Also in combination is that lately I'm also the worst LJ-er ever, and you've got a neglected birthday.
How old are you now? 12?
And just for you, the Worst Poem Ever:
There once was a girl named akscully
Who never did anything dully
She's a priest with no shirt
Who always gets hurt
So give her some boys to sully
( So you're an Aries? That explains so much. )

Sep. 13th, 2004 05:44 pmHappy birthday, Jade!!!
<sung really fast>
Happy happy birthday!!
Happy happy birthday!!
Happy happy birthday!!
Happy happy birthday!!
</crazy Carl's Jr. commercial>
This year, in honor of your birthday, I have rewritten certain scenes in Alias, starring a few of the pairings you enjoy. It's quite mad.
( Alias, as interpreted by some of the ships Jade enjoys. )

Jun. 18th, 2004 02:39 amI am dedicating this story to
mynuet, as it's her birthday today. I wanted to write a fluffy little ficlet for the occasion, but this one kind of mushroomed out of my control. Still fluffy as scrambled eggs, though. Ron POV, R/Hr ... it's nothing like my usual fare. Oh, except for the existence of D/G. <g>
Summary: Sometimes, a married man just has to admit to himself how much he longs for little boys.
( Ronald Bilius Weasley's Theory of Time and Relativity, PG-13, R/Hr, D/G )

Jun. 14th, 2004 01:14 amWell, not really, but the ordeal of traveling is such that it does actually make me glad to be back, once I am.
Plane fare: $250
Fuel cost to Jade's house: $2.39/gallon
Comfortable flip flops to sprint in: $16.50
Concealing black hat: $0 (borrowed from Jade)
Cell phone to communicate with mid-plan: $40/month
Robbie's face as I pulled up in her stolen car: priceless
Happy birthday to all the lovely people whose birthdays I missed, namely:
lissinthecity (hope your trip is/was fabulous!!),
msscribe, and
mynuet. *HUGS* and belated birthday wishes!!
( All about my trip home, including movies I saw, books I read, my new Kate Spade collection, and other random things, including a rant about small children. If you're easily offended, don't read. If you don't want spoilers for things, don't read. I'm warning you this is long. Extremely long. (Said Ginny about Draco's ... pajama bottoms.) )

( HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMELIA! )
Also, many, many thanks to Callie, Shar, Carlos, Jade, Amelia, Rob, Sharon, Caitlin, MC, Fear, Gia, Pud, 714, light_music, Liss, Chrismiss, Kev, Andrea, Connie, and Alicia for your hugs and stuff! You guys totally made me feel better about yesterday's lameassness, and I didn't think that would be possible. I shant underestimate you again.
Last night I went to the ER (because of course, any regular doctor is booked up weeks in advance and by then I might have been a vegetable or something) and got myself checked out. Just some soft tissue damage (and a low-grade headache), but doesn't appear to be anything serious. Oddly, I do find myself typoing a lot more than usual, but I'm hoping I can attribute that to the headache and not to some weird brain thing. The fucktard's insurance should be taking care of everything from medical to car, but I'd like to know how they're going to compensate me for having to deal w/ all this crap now. Grrrrr.
