On her birthday, 10 reasons why I love
10. Her SPaG is excellent. Most of the time. Unless she gets excited, in which case she is liable to leave off a letter or three.
9. I can't think of anyone else I could talk to about branding old people when putting them out to pasture and calling them 'parent cows,' though she's probably conveniently forgotten all about that. Gotta love her selective memory.
8. She's always finding interesting things on the Internet and is extremely willing to share them.
7. She has good taste in ships. (But not TV shows.)
6. She has a really nice rack ... or claims to, anyway, since I've never seen it and can't confirm. But that is another reason: She's unafraid to call her own rack nice.
5. She is a dog person. (In that she has a dog, not that she is a human-dog hybrid, though that would be pretty cool too.)
4. Though we have similar feelings about love/dating/boys, we have complementary tastes in men. This means that in the unlikely event that the two of us would be responsible for repopulating the earth, we wouldn't fight about who got who to procreate with.
3. She reminds me of Princess Mia, who is one of my favorite literary characters of all time.
2. WHEN SHE GETS REALLY WORKED UP SHE TALKS IN WEASLEY CAPS, AND IT'S SOOOOO FUNNY.
And the number one reason I love akscully:
1. She is funny and smart and kind, and she would never admit to being any of those things. Only she would.
A Birthday Haiku
It is your birthday
Therefore I will not call you

A Birthday Ficlet
Since H/Hr is akscully's favorite ship, here is a 375-word fic just for her. However, I couldn't come up with a premise, so I went to FF.net and borrowed one.
Tom Riddle is nothing more than a memory many years later. Can Harry go on with his life? Is he doomed to stay alone to wrestle with his own personal demons?
"I'm tired, Hermione."
"I know, Harry. But you can't give up. Not now, when there's so much at stake." Hermione placed comforting hands on her best friend's shoulders, feeling the sinewy strength beneath. She knew there was still a lot of fight left in him.
"I just want to give up," Harry said, sounding miserable. "It's many years later, and Tom Riddle is nothing more than a memory. Why should I keep doing this? It's not fair to you, and it's not fair to little Harry Jr."
"Harry Jr. loves you no matter what, and you know it," admonished Hermione. "Do you want me to tell him he has a quitter for a father? Well, do you?"
"No, of course I don't." Harry wiped the sweat off his brow wearily, and flexed his hands. His eyes glinted with determination, and he slammed his elbow down on the table, his hand raised challengingly. "Double or nothing."
The green-skinned, red-eyed, horned creature, Bert, grasped Harry's hand and smiled, showing off his three rows of sharp teeth. "You got it, Potter." A scaly girl squirted some water into her man's mouths while Hermione buffed Harry's glasses.
After a few minutes of exertion, when he was nearly ready to give up, Harry saw the opportunity to take control when Bert started molting, and with a surge of strength, pinned the demon's slimy and bloody claw to the table.
Grumbling, Bert and his lady friend left after tossing a bag of Galleons onto the table.
"I think I have a splinter," said Harry, but forgot all about it when Hermione threw herself into his arms and knocked them off the bench. They made slow, sweet love in the grass, avoiding Bert's molted skin for the most part, but not the bugs that ended up feasting on Harry's hard, sculpted arse.
But Harry didn't care about that. All he could think about was the woman in his arms and how proud Harry Jr. would be to see that his da had beaten the last of his own personal demons and boffed his mother good.
I have to remember this day forever, Harry thought dreamily.
From that day forward, April 16 was a day of joy and celebration in the Potter household.
The End
Also, many, many thanks to Callie, Shar, Carlos, Jade, Amelia, Rob, Sharon, Caitlin, MC, Fear, Gia, Pud, 714, light_music, Liss, Chrismiss, Kev, Andrea, Connie, and Alicia for your hugs and stuff! You guys totally made me feel better about yesterday's lameassness, and I didn't think that would be possible. I shant underestimate you again.
Last night I went to the ER (because of course, any regular doctor is booked up weeks in advance and by then I might have been a vegetable or something) and got myself checked out. Just some soft tissue damage (and a low-grade headache), but doesn't appear to be anything serious. Oddly, I do find myself typoing a lot more than usual, but I'm hoping I can attribute that to the headache and not to some weird brain thing. The fucktard's insurance should be taking care of everything from medical to car, but I'd like to know how they're going to compensate me for having to deal w/ all this crap now. Grrrrr.

Date: 2004-04-16 11:01 pm (UTC)I do actually remember the "putting old people out to pasture and having them roam the land" conversation (I believe there was talk of stampedes and a great migration like they used to do with cows) but I have no memory of "parent cows". Another of your lies, no doubt.
Best haiku ever. Except for the lies. And the ficlet was truly, truly touching. Stop it, Bert, you're screaming again.
And I'm quite charming. You forgot that.

Date: 2004-04-18 11:47 pm (UTC)Okay, now that that's out of the way -- thanks so much for your lovely compliments. It means a great deal to me, coming from another D/G fan, and especially one whose artwork never fails to blow me away. Your D&G are always so gorgeous.
I would be OVER THE MOON if you were inspired to create art for anything I've written. You've made my weekend!! :D

Date: 2004-04-21 01:38 am (UTC)And d00d, yes, I absolutely am going to continue TSA ... I've had a bit (okay, rather large) block, but the entire thing is completely outlined and I will write it all. Er ... I don't know who I'm trying to convince. <g> But it's certain you've gone and motivated me to dust it off and work on it, especially as the next chapter is so close to being complete. So at the very least, thank you for that! :D
