Amy Acker's going to be on Dollhouse!! As is Olivia Williams, who is a lesser-known actress I've always liked. The list of producers has a lot of familiar names. I haven't found a ton of info on who the writers are -- apparently Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain (from Angel) are the showrunners. Tim Minear's written a couple of eps, and so has Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen (of Dr. Horrible fame).

You might have noticed that I haven't yet shared Le Creuset pictures/news yet. I'm waiting on one last piece to arrive (technically two, as the lid counted as a piece), as it was mistakenly left off the initial order. I haven't yet used any of the ones I've gotten so far, and I want to wait until I've got the complete set before I take a group photo. :D However, this does mean that I have like, no space for anything. I already packed up a box of kitchen stuff, and I have 5 cast iron pans of varying sizes sitting out because I don't have cupboard space for them anymore.

I also mentioned awhile back that I was going to pick up my mom's designer handbags in December and sell them on eBay. I have the handbags, but given the current economic climate I'm not sure it's wise to list them now. Some are decades old; it's not going to hurt to wait a year or two to try and sell them. My theory is that the last thing people are going to spend their money on right now are frivolous items such as handbags, when so many people are struggling just to put food on the table. (Yet if that is the situation, would such people have been looking to buy designer handbags in the first place, ever?) My mom's theory is that since money's so tight now, people are going to be wanting second-hand goods more than in times of prosperity. Which may be true, and yet ... people who buy second hand on eBay are unlikely to have ever bought it new in the first place -- they would always buy on eBay, imho, except now they might not have the discretionary cash to do so. I don't know; it just keeps going around in circles in my head. What do you think??

Also, don't you hate it when you're lazy and don't do laundry in weeks, then wake up one morning and find that you don't have any underwear to put on except granny panties or thongs?

I've been writing this off and on for like 3 days and keep getting distracted. I'm just going to post. :P

Just a rambly round up of things. Putting everything behind a cut, but if you're bored, you're welcome to click. )

The last photo request comes from [livejournal.com profile] 13oct, whose request will expose how totally frivolous I am. What's that you say? That was exposed long ago? Oh well. Of my (many) faults, this is probably the one I have the most fun with.

Handbags! )

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] corianderstem!

Okay, now summer is officially over. It's 62°F and cloudy today, and it looks like it's going to max out around 70°F in the next 10 days. :/ Bummer. I really, really want to move further south. I've been here for 8+ years and the constant gloom is really getting to me.

My new computer arrived, but I haven't been able to test out WAR yet, because it took over 24 hours just to download the beta bits. WTF. It finished overnight so I should be able to check it out tonight. Hopefully my new monitor will also have arrived and it will be an Experience.

I totally rock on Guitar Hero. :)) Well, on the beginner level. But I totally suck at DDR. Even the beginner levels are way hard, wtf. "Driving" with the Mario Kart wheel is a lot easier than I thought it'd be (that's right, you're looking at the 50cc Mushroom Cup champ -- go baby Peach!), but supposedly if you actually want to do well you need to use the old school controllers.

It turns out that my mom has about a dozen or so high-end designer handbags (Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry, etc.) from back in the day when she was all into such things (I knew it! It's genetic! Therefore not really my fault), but doesn't use anymore, and I've offered to sell them on eBay for her. She is so excited by the prospect of actually getting money for these bags that she doesn't use anymore -- and it's insane but I'm quite certain that I can get at least a couple hundred dollars per bag due to how well these designers have managed to sustain their brand. A new LV, for instance, averages between $1-2.5K, so getting an older bag that's been well cared for, for $200, is a steal. Well, for eBay shoppers who care about such things.

I have a 2-hour meeting coming up that I am positively DREADING. After that I get to go home and clean my floors. Yay. I can't wait for this day to be over. (No offense, A.!!)

I'm sad because I went back to the store where I got those awesome donut peaches that I blogged about, and THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANYMORE. :-( I got some regular white peaches/nectarines but it's just not the same. I'll go to another store for more of the donut variety, but I doubt they'll be as big or beautiful. /sad I'll probably spend the rest of my days trying to find donut peaches like that again.

Does anyone else have a dog who gets carsick? Talis used to be very bad about it; threw up nearly every time he got in a car. Reading up about it, it seems that dogs rarely have motion sickness, but rather suffer from anxiety. So I'd take him out every time it was feasible, in order to get him used to it. And he got a lot better and the times he threw up decreased dramatically. In fact, he LOVES going TO the car and the idea of being in it -- he races to the garage door every time I pick up my keys, then hops around the car until I open the door and he eagerly jumps inside -- but he's not so crazy about the driving part (unless I roll his window down). But I bring a towel with me to lay on his seat every time I take him in the car, because he still pukes from time to time. Today was such a day; he seemed perfectly fine and then on our way home, threw up (thank goodness for the towel). Surely he can't be anxious anymore, so is he one of those rare dogs who actually DO get motion sick?! Sigh.

Cut for frivolous things I have wastefully indulged in using my bonus. )
