this, that, and the other

I've been writing this off and on for like 3 days and keep getting distracted. I'm just going to post. :P
1) New post at my food blog about pumpkin ice cream. :D Also, some pics of a delicious steak frites here.
2) I ended up getting a Citi CashReturns Mastercard to replace my Chase Visa. I used this site that
jade_okelani recommended to find the best fit for me. It still doesn't look as good as my Discover in terms of cash back, but it'll be good for when I can't use my Discover (seriously merchants -- get with the program and take Discover).
This particular card required "excellent credit" to get, and that made me think of another reason why credit cards are better than debit cards, assuming you don't have the compulsion to spend more than you have, and if you're responsible about paying it off every month (or at least the minimum): it helps you build good credit. And in this day and age, that's important because it helps you get loans for mortgages, cars, and other such things (and better rates).
Of course, in the last few years just about anyone could get a loan for anything, regardless of credit, but that's partly why we're in the financial mess we're in now. :P
3) Since I've got my new Nikon I sold my Canon PowerShot A520 on eBay. It was actually a really good point-and-click digicam, when I look at some of the pictures I took with it. It just didn't have that all-important depth-of-field capability that sets my new camera apart from it. It sold for $81, minus eBay/PayPal fees (which are getting completely ridiculous -- between the two, about 10% of my sale is gone). Considering I paid $169 for it back in 2005 (seriously, I love Gmail that I was able to find that out in seconds), that's pretty good resale value. Of course, I also included an SD memory card, a carrying case, and a recently purchased AC adaptor with it. Next up, one of my monitors.
4) OMG at what happened with Jennifer Hudson's family! I mean, horrible things like this happen all too often, but for some reason when it happens to a likable celebrity it really drives home how susceptible we all are.
5) I keep getting these surveys from J.D. Power and Associates about my car. For those of you who don't know, I bought myself a very nice new car last November in honor of my 30th birthday. They always send a crisp new $1 bill with the survey, and damn it all, I always fall for this guilt tactic and fill out the survey, even though my time is so worth more than $1.
6) I will be posting more pics of my handbags.
13oct requested it, and I have so much fun taking photos of them. :D Here's one:

Shown here with a bottle of water to give you an idea about the size of this bag -- it's teeny.

I love the hardware on this handbag, especially the rhinestone-encrusted Coach hangtag. Really fun little evening bag.
Designer: Coach
Shape: Madison Top Handle Mini
Material: satin, with suede accents
Color: Wine
I bought this back in 2005 and I can't find it online anywhere -- I found its pink and black counterparts, but this particular color has vanished. The reason I was looking for it is because I don't actually know what the official color is called; wine is my best guess. ><
Anyway, I just fell in love with this little bag the first time I saw it. It was so cute! And pretty! It made me think of all these scenarios in which I could use it -- very few of which have actually come true, as you can tell from the fact that its pricetag is still attached. >.> Still, I like that it's in my collection and I can use it should one of those occasions arise. :P

I'm not generally a Coach fan, but that is a DARLING bag.
