Zomg yay: New Line Cinema spokeswoman Candice McDonough confirms that “Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker, her three co-stars and writer-director Michael Patrick King are signed for a sequel to last year’s hit movie.

I'm in the process of selling off all my Buffy DVD box sets. With Jade's help I snagged one of those new full-set boxes that take up half the space my current box sets do. I should be able to make back close, if not all, what I paid for the new set assuming they all sell.

A classy apology, though in my view completely unnecessary. People are just hypocrites and gossip mongers, and love to wallow in pointless crap like this.

What does a black man, an Asian girl, a teenage white boy, a gay man, and a French man have in common? They love playing World of Warcraft. And are good friends. Some days I just love WoW, makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Last night the group of us went and did the last few dungeons I needed for the "Elder" achievement. /cheer (Bonus points for Jade if she can name each person in the group. But then it's way too easy.)

Confirmed: my old ipod is dead. Well, not completely as it still turns on, but does nothing beyond that. I'm going to try to auction it off on eBay as needing repair -- I've seen others sell theirs that way (to tech whizzes who fix them then list the iPod for much more). Speaking of iPods, I loved this meme that [livejournal.com profile] jade_okelani did and have been wanting to do it, but didn't have a working iPod. Now not only have I done it, I want to create my own!

Shuffle song meme, quite brilliant in spots. )

Why do they even bother putting "door close" buttons in elevators? THEY NEVER WORK. They're only there to frustrate people. Because when you TRY to use them, pressing or pressing and holding doesn't actually close the doors. The elevators are always programmed to wait a certain amount of time before closing, and they won't close a second sooner.

Remember those Meyer lemons I mentioned a post or two ago? I ended up making these cookies from the zest, and this lemon curd from the juice (think pie or tart filling).

I tried my first recipe from Chef, Interrupted. It was ... less than I might have hoped for. I'm not giving up on the book, I love Melissa Clark, but will probably aim for something a bit 'safer' next time. This one was just easiest at the time. (In fact I just found this, another one of her recipes that someone else tried, which sounds divine.)

I finally got a new iPod to replace my ailing one. The good and the bad. )

I'm so freaking spoiled. Well, or maybe I'm not spoiled, I'm deprived, and that's why stuff like this makes me feel spoiled. I had a 17-inch monitor at work, which I got about 8 years ago, and at the time it was totally cutting edge. Well, now it's pretty crappy in comparison to the monitors out there now, so I emailed our team's admin to see if I could get an upgrade. Given the economic climate and the budget tightening, I was expecting to be told no (I should have asked for one last year!). But an hour after I sent the email, she came into my office lugging a 22-inch Widescreen Samsung SyncMaster 220WM, all apologetic because she couldn't get me a 27-inch one due to budget constraints. Pffft, like I care? The new one is already eons beyond what I was using. It makes me giddy just to look at it. (Though it's still not as big as the 24-inch widescreen, also by Samsung, that I have at home. :D)

You know who I'm really enjoying, music wise? Jem. I don't know anything about her other than the two songs I've heard, but her sound is very unique and I like her voice. Plus the songs are good.

First, I wanted to say that I am completely and insanely envious of [livejournal.com profile] gnrationfo, who is now getting phone calls from Billie Joe Armstrong. Next time, I want you to not pick up the phone and instead let your machine get it. Then you can play it for me when I'm there, and it'll be the next best thing to seeing Green Day in concert.

Second, I wanted to impart a couple of pieces of news -- one good, one ... I can't decide.

#1: I had my bloodwork done the other day (a year since the time I found out I had high bad cholesterol), and the results came back with good news! Hmm, so losing 14+ pounds really did make a difference. Guess that means I have to try to stick w/ a healthier lifestyle (though I've already deteriorated a lot from late last year). Anyway, here's the before/after, if you're interested! )

#2: So, re: the iPod. They don't have a replacement, which I find unsurprising, because how many 20GB iPods are you going to be able to find at that price? So they're going to fully refund my money, and provide a UPS label for me to ship it back, etc. Which is cool -- they have been really great to deal with so far. But, of course, now I'm torn about what my next steps are. Do I invest in another iPod, because those who have them really love them, or do I invest in a different MP3 player, for the reasons I've gone over before (lower price, more space, etc.)? I would really, REALLY love to get your experience/opinions on this. The more, the better. I should have probably done this earlier.

What MP3 player are you using? What's been your experience with it so far? What are the things you love most about it, and what drawbacks (if any) have you encountered?
