I come bearing a couple of New Girl fanvids! :D They focus specifically on Nick/Jess. These use music that I think is more appropriate for the show/pairing. It makes me happy to watch them. Nick/Jess fanvids! )

Last night I kept refreshing the page where I normally go to watch the latest ep, and thankfully mentioned something about it to [profile] jade_okelani, because she saved me probably hours of frustrated refreshing, lol, by pointing out that there would be no new ep due to the State of the Union. >.> You can tell I really care about stuff like that.

Yesterday, saw Warm Bodies with [personal profile] adelagia and [personal profile] slitherhither. :D It was cute, about what you'd expect from the trailer. Not exactly a "realistic" take on the zombie apocalypse, that's for sure. Soooooooo many questions. But that's really not the point of this movie, so. I liked the actress, Teresa Palmer, who I've never seen or heard of before, though I guess she's done quite a bit. She's like a cross between Hayden Panettiere and Kristen Stewart, to me.

I may have gotten [profile] jade_okelani into New Girl. Eeeeeee!! Actually she gave the show a lot of chances before finally giving up -- right before it actually started to get good, imho. Part of the problem is that she doesn't like Schmidt (I know. I don't know what to do about it. It took me awhile to warm up to him too, but now I love Schmidtty), but hopefully that'll change. I don't know if it will. I kind of do believe you have to like everyone in order to love the show... though it's true that Nick is the best one. ;) I made her watch at least half a dozen eps from S2 -- though it turns out I might've only needed to have her watch 2x14 and 2x15. Honestly if you can't get into it after 2x15 there's really no chance you'll get into it at all. (I do think it helps to have all the background leading up to it however!)

I haven't found a Nick/Jess fanvid yet that I think is really good -- I feel like their relationship should have an upbeat, cheerful background song, and every vid I've seen is all dramallama type songs, which doesn't fit them all that well, imho. BUT this is the best of them so far. )

The Salvation Army came and took my guest bed away. They also took one of my old TVs. The other TV that was also supposed to go with them was in the guest room, where I had put Talis. When I went to get it, I discovered that somehow, the door had locked. I had to send them away without it, which I'm more grrr about than they are. It took me another 15 minutes after they left to free Talis.

I've been catching up on Raising Hope. I love Martha Plimpton. My problem with this show is that there's really nothing about it that makes me need to watch it in any shape or form. It's funny, and I love Virginia and Burt, but everyone else is kind of a waste of space. I'm totally sick of Maw Maw and her senility, I don't find Jimmy the least bit attractive (and yes, I'm superficial enough that that would make a difference), which also makes it hard to care about Sabrina. And nothing about Jimmy's character makes him attractive, either (whereas with Nick, I was ambivalent about Jake Johnson's attractiveness initially, but now find him super hot).

Wow, I haven't updated in nearly 2 weeks? That must be some kind of (recent) record for me. Partly it's because it's SO FRIGGING COLD that I don't want to do anything but be in bed. Partly it's because my mom's staying with me (kind of last minute) for the whole month, and we've been spending a lot of time eating out. But mostly it's because I was on vacation all last week, and updating LJ is more fun when I'm at work. >.>

I've been making... dun dun DUUUUUUUN... fanvids

I've been stretching my creative wings. Rather than writing fanfic, I have made... two fanvids! It's much harder than it looks, but also fun. Even making fairly basic vids like I have is super time consuming. O.o I had no idea. The two vids are Yi Jeong/Ga Eul (from Boys Over Flowers) based, so there's only a limited amount of footage I can work with -- both a curse and a blessing.

If you're interested in watching them... )

Cool/fun cookbook/gift rec

If you need a cool coffee table book, or a fun gift for just about anyone (well, any adult), I recommend My Last Supper: 50 Great Chefs and Their Final Meals / Portraits, Interviews, and Recipes. I've been wanting it awhile and now I finally have it! It's really cool -- basically, 50 well-known chefs play the "death row" game (though they don't call it that): If they could choose their last meal, what would it be? Some, of course, get super fancy and specific, but a surprising number, maybe even half, would go for something really simple and comforting -- scrambled eggs, rustic bread with cheese, etc. The last part of the book the chefs share recipes from their selections.

Icon making!

Every three years or so, I get a bee in my bonnet and want to make icons. I've been playing around with textures and what not, and as practice, made some from past/present fandom interests. :D They're just for me, I haven't really made any that are intended to be shared out on icon communities or anything like that, but I think they look pretty good!

A bit of TV

I've been watching a bit of TV... caught up on Merlin (OMG!) and have watched the first six episodes of Once Upon a Time (I blame drunk![personal profile] akscully for this), which isn't GREAT TV or anything, but is fun enough to continue now that I'm out of TV I'm really interested in watching. Also I really like Jennifer Morrison (though Cameron > Emma).

My latest cookware obsession

CorningWare. That's right, the stuff our mothers (well, not mine, but you know) used to use. There was a whole thread about it on my foodies list at work, and now I really want to use it. But it should be noted, however, that I'm not talking about CorningWare as it exists today (at least, not 99% of it), but literally mean the stuff someone's mother used to use -- the vintage pieces from the 50s/60s. Know why? It turns out that that stuff was made from Pyroceram, a type of glass ceramic invented by a guy who was working on rocket nose cones (as part of a U.S. ballistic missile program). The beauty of glass ceramic, apparently, is its ability to resist thermal shock, which means you can cook with it on the stovetop, put it under the broiler, bake it, or freeze it (and all directly from one to the other, if you choose). You can use it like you would cast iron, except there's no seasoning involved, and unlike cast iron you can use it for tomato sauces/wet foods. You can even bake no-knead bread in it.

So what's wrong with the recent stuff? Probably more than you want to know. )

I know just enough about technology to be dangerous. Sigh. I thought I had found the solution to my PC-to-TV challenge, but in thinking some more, I've realized that it's going to work -- and I haven't even gotten the audio splitter that I ordered yet. Details of my woe. )

If there are any electronics experts out there, I'd love your opinion.

Most BOF fanmade music vids suck, and there are probably not enough Yi Jeong/Ga Eul scenes to make a great vid anyway (with enough variety), but I quite enjoyed this one:

I'm in the midst of my BOF rewatch and seriously, [personal profile] akscully is on crack that she doesn't think Lee Min Ho is attractive. He's no Joe Cheng (of ISWAK), but he's definitely easy on the eyes and makes for a very endearing Jun Pyo/Tsukasa. I may also start Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, because A claims that it will hit all my Draco kinks. But can I really trust the opinion of someone who doesn't find LMH attractive? :))

I have to seriously clean/tidy my house tonight, because I am going to have a visitor tomorrow morning and it needs to look its best. I'm not ready to talk about what's going on yet, as it's still way too in the beginning stages, but I will just say that it has nothing to do with romance.

Subject line: Yi-jeong about Jun-pyo, when the latter displays his cluelessness yet again.
