1) If you're going to a meet-the-author thing, and there's going to be around 30 people there, and it's company-sponsored so it's not like these are going to be the author's greatest fans in the world, how many books do you think you could get signed without it seeming rude/greedy? And are paperbacks (trade) even worth getting signed? I'm leaving in about 45 min. for the Meg Cabot thing so insight here would be v. appreciated.

Date: 2004-01-12 10:08 am (UTC)Yes, Tom Robbins is a bastard. It was $100 a person to have lunch with him - he refused to sign anything or have pictures taken. I went for free because work sponsored it, but it did nothing for my opinion of him.
I've met a lot of authors, all of them very nice, until I met him. Dude, trust me, most people don't even know who you are so drop the holier than thou attitude. *rolls eyes*
