Traffic was freakishly good this morning. Is there some kind of holiday going on that I don't know about?

So did I mention that I put my condo up for sale? I can't remember. Anyway, it got listed on Thursday, and my agents (I got rid of my old agent, who I was not happy with) noted on the listing that I did not want to review offers until Monday, with the hope that I would have multiple offers to choose from. I didn't hear anything over the weekend, so I assumed that they'd been too optimistic. Well, I got a call this morning from one of the agents, and apparently there have been a couple of offers to come in, so we're going to meet tonight to go over them. O.o My mom's like, "I knew you should have asked for more." But I thought it was a reasonable price, plus my condo dues are very high -- $257/month. Just for dues! Not counting the mortgage! Anyway, I have yet to see what the actual offers entail, so I don't know that this monkey is off my back yet -- I mean, what if they suck? It'd be nice to get this settled before I leave, but it won't be the end of the world if I don't.

I had a fairly frivolous weekend.

I watched Firefly. I'm so sad it was canceled ... and yet glad, in a perverse way, because it means that poor Mal and Inara won't have to go through years and years of UST before getting to be together (not to mention, the years and years of her sleeping with other men). Not that I'm assuming any such thing will happen in the movie, though I have hopes, but at least it won't be canon. Fanfic will fix everything. :D

My favorite character, next to Mal (he reminds me of this lawyer I have a crush on crossed just a bit with David Boreanaz), is Jayne. <3 Adam Baldwin omg. He's just hilarious! Vera. *falls down dead* I'm sorry we didn't get to see where any of the set up was going: What was Book, exactly? Is he some kind of president/king? Why did Inara leave Persephone or wherever it was and settle with Serenity? We learn in Heart of Gold that she could have been high priestess or whatever -- so what happened? Speaking of HoG, omg that scene where Inara's sobbing her heart out is just so painful.

I had some issues with "Objects in Space," the "finale" (at least on the DVD). It was Joss Whedon at his worst. I don't care what he says about it. It was trying to be all deep and meaningful and what not, and came across as nonsensical and pretentious. Urg. To say something good about Joss, though, I love the theme song he wrote. And while I'm still not interested in space, cowboys, or space cowboys, he tends to rise above whatever gimmick he's got going and write some really compelling and meaningful characters/relationships. But he also seems overly fond of one particular plot device: you've always got the crazy girl who's smart and/or tells the future. River is Drusilla, Cordy/Doyle, and Fred all wrapped up into one.

It's always been bizarre to me that the show was canceled so early, particularly given Joss's involvement. I mean, Fox in general is stupid, so maybe that explains why they wouldn't give a show like that more of a chance. This was the guy who created Buffy, for god's sake. Anyway, "Firefly" was set up to fail. There were many factors that contributed to its demise, including:

a) They aired the episodes completely out of order. WTF? I mean, okay, I can actually see why they'd postpone the pilot. It was the least compelling episode, imho, and after watching it I wasn't sure I'd like the show at all. It wasn't until after the second episode (which they aired first) that I discovered my love for it. But to postpone the pilot until so late in the season that it actually served as the series finale? What kind of sense does that make? And why reorder the episodes in the middle? I don't get it. (Going back to the pilot, though, imho it wasn't even necessary. All the backstory would have been told just fine in bits and pieces during regular eps, which it was anyway. "The Message" nicely told the story of how all these characters got together in the first place, and the war stuff didn't have to be explicit. Or if they wanted to tell that story, they could have done it a la Angel, wherein we just get eps from time to time showing the events of the past.)

b) They kept changing the day it was on, so no casual viewer would have been able to keep up with all the schedule changes.

c) They didn't even give it a 13-episode run before canceling.

d) The show should have been called "Serenity," not "Firefly." Firefly is not enough of a descriptor for what the show was, nor was it mentioned nearly as often as Serenity (which is also in the theme song, and thus sticks in one's head). Jade and I have caught ourselves calling the show "Serenity," many times. I bet people went around going, "Hey, you have to watch Serenity!" and people were like, "Okay!" but couldn't because they couldn't find the show called Serenity. Yep. "Serenity" just describes the show -- the characters, the premise, the stories -- a lot better.

Anyway, I can't wait to see the movie. I hope they've written it as Firefly's last hurrah, and didn't hold anything back. I want to see some resolution, darn it, and while there may be some little hope that it will one day get picked up again, I hope they didn't write the movie with that in mind.

Also, I can't believe Jewel Staite is the bitch I hated from Wonderfalls. Wow.

I also watched some S1 House. I love the show. I think it's awesome and really well done. Being a medical mystery rather than a medical drama is a refreshing change. The idea of four doctors, however, concentrating on one patient's case at a time is a bet far-fetched. What hospital actually has that kind of luxury? I went into the show only knowing/liking Hugh Laurie. But I've ended up liking the whole cast. I'm a bit confused as to who Robert Sean Leonard is supposed to be (I confess, I had the show on while I was doing other things, so details have escaped me). Like, what's his staff position? Why does he have House's respect the way no one else does? I mean, he's young also. Also, does each episode seem super long??? I mean, not in a bad way, but I don't see how these episodes can air with commercials in between! The thing about House, though, is that it's just right the way it is. I have no ship interests, and I like what I see on screen. I don't need anything more. So I have zero interest in fanfic for this show. Of course, Sela Ward hasn't come into the picture yet, so I still have a ways to go.

I watched UCLA beat Oklahoma. :D Or rather, I watched OU lose to the Bruins. They played such a bad game, UCLA should have won by more. It's nice that the Bruins are ranked now, but all I want is to see them win some games and make LA a Bruin football town again. It wasn't so long ago that we pwned it, and it needs to happen again. Shooting a little lower, I'd like to see them beat SC this year. That'd be nice.

My WoW playing has significantly decreased of late, what with the moving and the TV-watching. I've got Elisabeth up to 52 now (Jade and I screwed ourselves when we turned 50, because of course Blizzard re-leveled the battlegrounds, and now we're lowbies and have to lvl up as quickly as we can). PVP has been sucking lately. We played Arathi Basin twice and lost both times (of course, we were outnumbered both times nearly 2 to 1, so I don't think it's that Horde sucks now so much as no one is freakin' playing, for some reason), we can't get into WSG (because no doubt the Alliance does not want to return to the scene of their many bloodlettings now that they have AB), and sometimes we can't even get into AB. We still haven't tried Alterac Valley though we keep meaning to.

After the latest patch it took us FOREVER to even get one green item to drop so that we could see the new looting thing. It's neato. Of course, after that I got two blue items to drop for me, all within an hour. Crazy. I've had a number of blue items drop from regular quest killing (and once even a purple!), but only once, however, have I had a blue item drop that I could actually use. Le sigh.

I've created a new character on Llane called Nandi. :D She's a tauren shaman, and the only gal to have slept with Mal (that we've seen, by the end of the original 13 eps, at least). Heehee!

Also, I wish the world to know that Jade is an Indian giver, and took back the Xbox Lego Star Wars game that she and Robbie gave me for an early bday present. Well, she claims that she accidentally packed it into her luggage by mistake and that she'll return it to me in NY, but this seems a likely story.

Let me know when you're going to be on with Nandi again, and you'll get a guild invite. :)

I surely will. It was super late last night, so I only took the time to create her. I haven't even watched the opening sequence yet. I'll probably get a chance to play her tonight, if you're on. Or maybe not, because I'll be meeting with my agents. Oh well, anyway, I'm sure I'll catch you one of these days.
