sing me a song
Feb. 18th, 2004 10:53 am1. Your favorite song with the name of a city in the title or text.
"Raining in Baltimore" by Counting Crows
2. A song you've listened to repeatedly when you were depressed at some point in your life.
"Still Remains" by Stone Temple Pilots
3. Ever bought an entire album just for one song and winded up disliking everything but that song? Gimme that song.
"Stay" by Shakespear's Sister (album: Hormonally Yours)
4. A song whose lyrics you thought you knew in the past, but about which you later learned you were incorrect.
"Chop Suey!" by System of a Down
5. Your least favorite song on one of your favorite albums of all time.
Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory - least fave song is "A Place for My Head" (and still, it took me forever to choose that because I love all the songs on this album)
6. Song you like by someone you find physically unattractive or otherwise repellent.
"Fighter" by Christina Aguilera
7. Your favorite song that has expletives in it that's not by Liz Phair.
"Bad Habit" by Offspring
8. A song that sounds as if it's by someone British but isn't.
"Tear in Your Hand" by Tori Amos? Honestly, I can't think of one. But Tori sometimes has a weird inflection when she sings, so that's about as close as I can get.
9. A song you like (possibly from your past) that took you forever to finally locate a copy of.
"The Promise" by When in Rome
10. A song that reminds you of spring but doesn't mention spring at all.
"Lazy Eye" by Hem
11. A song that sounds to you like being happy feels.
"The Rock Show" by blink-182
12. Your favorite song from a non-soundtrack compilation album.
"Last Kiss" by Pearl Jam (from No Boundaries: A Benefit for the Kosovar Refugees)
13. A song from your past that would be considered politically incorrect now (and possibly was then).
"Bust a Move" by Young MC (Gawd I love this song, and it's really not more un-PC than, say, Eminem's stuff is today.)
14. A song sung by an overweight person.
"When You're Good to Mama" by Queen Latifah. And a song sung by an underweight person: "2 Become 1" by Jewel.
15. A song you actually like by an artist you otherwise hate.
"The Space Between" by Dave Matthews Band
16. A song by a band (whose members actually play instruments) that features three or more female members.
"Traveling Soldier" by Dixie Chicks
17. One of the earliest songs that you can remember listening to.
"Turn! Turn! Turn!" by The Byrds
18. A song you've been mocked by friends for liking.
Anything by Mariah Carey.
19. A really good cover version you think no one else has heard.
"The Rainbow Connection" by Sarah McLachlan
20. A song that has helped cheer you up (or empowered you somehow) after a breakup or otherwise difficult situation.
"Love's Recovery" by Indigo Girls
21. A song you've listened to while making out.
"Always" by Bon Jovi
22. A song not in English -- preferably a foreign-language version of an English-language hit.
WTF could this question be any more specific? I'm going to go w/ "Sympathique" by Pink Martini, although I do not believe it was originally an English-language hit.
And speaking of music, I'm so not on top of things that I only just found out about the whole Ben-Moody-leaving-Evanescence thing. WTF is that all about? My theory: He lurved Amy Lee, but she didn't feel the same way, and when she took up w/ that other dude, Ben got all pissed off and left. In any case, very not cool. Still, the little statement her stupid bf put out annoyed me greatly, and now I don't like her much either. And given that Ben and Amy cowrote every single song on "Fallen," I don't have much faith in any forthcoming Evanescence albums. I am, however, excited about Avril Lavigne's follow up, given that I loved "Let Go" and Ben is now on her writing team. Amy has the voice, but maybe it was Ben w/ all the musical talent...
