You guys... I had the most unrestful sleep ever last night. Don't you hate it when you dream that you're *doing things*, so you spend the whole time doing those things and wake up feeling like you haven't slept? Well last night I dreamed that I was moving to another country and had to pack up the entire house. Into like, one suitcase. It was 1pm and I had to leave by like 7pm. I was so incredibly stressed out, because there was so much to DO and think about, and I was being all Dudley like, "Can I get my TV into my suitcase?" CRAZY DREAMS.
I swear, I have the worst luck with eBay/Half.com. Jade says that if people had my luck with them, they'd never use them. Anyway, the latest thing is that one of the Xbox games I ordered arrived yesterday. It was the case, the manual, and the bonus disc. NO GAME DISC. Hello that is the most important part!! So now I have to go sort that out. So annoying! The most stressful part is in waiting for the other person to reply, wondering if they're trying to con you (or think I'm trying to con them), or be cool, or if it's going to turn into this ugly contentious thing.
I can't believe how close the deadline is for the
dgficexchange. I often wonder, if I were a mutant, what power(s) I'd want to have. Right now it's the ability to turn back time. (A la Curtis from Misfits, except with the ability to control it.)
Though actually, the best power would be Peter's power from Heroes, the ability to absorb and use other powers. Kind of like Rogue, but not as deadly, and he gets to keep the power forever (iirc).
Okay, I finally watched episode 9 of Game of Thrones. Obviously, nothing happens that I didn't already know was going to happen from reading the books, but they did a really great job with it. I'm really looking forward to next week.
- Oh, Ned. In a way I think it was even worse that I knew it was coming. I almost didn't want to even watch the episode. It's this dread that starts and doesn't go away because you know there's no last-minute save. Ned dies... and he has to die, because it's just the start of all the other shit that goes down in this series.
- It's extra horrible because you think he's going to be pardoned, and gets to go to the Wall and be with Jon (and we get to learn more about Jon's mom yay!), and Ned lies and lies, which is extra hard for him, and all he gets for it is decapitated. Still, he brought it all on himself with his damned blind honor.
- FUCKING JOFFREY. I'd always despised him, but when he did this, it really made the hate irrevocable. Like, that little shit must die.
- I remembered from the book that even Cersei was like, "Whoa, whoa, WHOA" -- she was totally willing to let Ned take the black, because Ned's death would have meant all-out war -- and was glad to see that shown on screen as well. Well, Cersei, you brought it on yourself with your little speeches about how Joffrey could have anything he wanted.
- 90% of the episode wasn't even about Ned. After the first scene there's no Ned until the end, so I even forgot that it was coming. And when I remembered... ugh. UGH.
- To the people who haven't read the books who are traumatized and vowing to boycott the show next season... don't cut off your nose to spite your face. Ned is just the beginning. There are many more awesome things to come. The series isn't epic because of any one character. And it's kind of fun to read a book where things aren't predictable, where no character is safe.
- To those who feel like HBO did this to deliberately insult Sean Bean and his fans... no. Just no. If you're really a Sean Bean fan you know that he LIKES to take roles where he dies. You should've known what was coming the second they announced he was cast. Sean knew when he signed that contract what he was getting into. Also, HBO didn't do this, so they shouldn't get the jeers or accolades for what happens. This series is based on an EXISTING saga of books, and this is a key thing that happens. No, they shouldn't change it to suit your tastes. It would make no SENSE for the next three (now four) books to come. It's like saying James and Lily Potter didn't have to die and they should have changed that for the HP movies. IT DOESN'T WORK.
- Okay, now about the other stuff. Really liked all the Dany stuff, though I wanted to hit her every time she came to the defense of the maegi. And when she was all desperate to do the blood magic. The problem is that I don't know how much of her desperation is out of love and how much of it is because she doesn't want to lose her position as a khaleesi. Now that Viserys is gone, she seems to want Drogo's army as much as he did, to reclaim the throne.
- WHAT IS WITH THE HORRIBLE ABUSE OF HORSES ON THIS SHOW?! The maegi slitting Drogo's horse's throat was awful.
- *SPOILER FOR FINALE* (highlight with your mouse if you want to see it): I can't WAIT to see Dany and the birth of the dragons. That is going to be EPIC. And the last shot of the season.
- Not a fan of the actress they chose for Shae. Though I guess that's just as well.
- Ahahaha I'd forgotten that Robb captures Jaime. They didn't give full details as to how it happened though. IIRC from the book, Jaime was impatient and eager to fight them, so he came to them rather than doing the smart thing and waiting for them to come to him, and thus brought it all on himself. Something like that. LOL when one of the Stark men are like, "Let's go, PRETTY MAN." :)))
- I loved the scene between Jon and Aemon Targaryen. It was a big shock in the book to learn that the old maester was not only the son of a Targaryen king, and the uncle of the Mad King (and therefore great uncle (?) to Daenerys and Viserys) but that he was actually offered the crown, and I was glad to see that Jon looked totally stunned by the reveal of who Aemon really is. At this point Jon is still kind of hotheaded and immature, so it was good for him to realize that he was not the only person to give up who he was, that there are men on the Wall who gave up even more than he did.
- Oh, and -- how appropriate is it that the actor who plays Filch is portraying creepy old Lord Walder? So perfect!
It's the worst time of year here at work... self assessment time. Ugggggghhhhhhhhhhhh. I HATE IT. I feel like it happens *so often*, even though it's only once a year. I feel like it always comes again so quickly. Sigh.
