First things first, here's a Living Social deal for 2 Fandango tickets for $9. Considering one matinee ticket these days is $8 (or if you live in LA, $10), two for $9 is an excellent deal. Enjoy!
Sold my two first-gen Nooks on eBay, though one has yet to make payment so we'll see. My second-gen Nook arrived yesterday, and I'm still trying to adjust to it. The software seems a bit buggy at times, though the full touch screen is pretty cool. I guess I didn't set up Calibre correctly with it or something, because I couldn't get the books on there right -- they're all in individual folders, which is weird, and none of the epub files are working (I get an error that says it's a format the Nook doesn't support), which is even weirder, because isn't that the Nook's main format? O.o
Also, if you have a Nook, let me know if you want to be Nook friends so we can share libraries and lend books to one another. :D (We have to connect through the email address that's registered with BN.com, though.) I tried it out with
akscully and it seems to work. She has lent me a romance novel and the Holy Bible. That's how she rolls.
Almost done with Lost S6. I'm watching the special before the finale, and I finally have stuff to say that isn't just mainly "WTF?"
- I really wanted to be touched by the way Jin and Sun died -- and I was sad because I liked those characters -- but all I could think was, "What a stupid, goddamn waste." I know it was supposed to be romantic because Jin told Sun he would never leave her again... but come on!! They HAVE A CHILD. A little girl who would be devastated enough by the loss of her mother, the only parent she'd ever known ... but to also lose her dad, by CHOICE, for no real reason? That is so... lame. That poor kid. It'd be different if all they had was each other -- then, okay. I can see where you'd be like, I have no other reason to live, anyway. But in this case, there was SUCH a good reason, and neither of them EVEN BROUGHT IT UP. I can't believe SUN, who knows/loves her daughter, would allow Jin to do that. It just seems stupid, selfish, and wasteful. She should have been like, "Jin, I love you, it's okay, our daughter needs one of us." Instead of being like, "*tender look* Oh you want to die with me? Okay."
- I was also sad to see Sayid go. To be honest he's one of the least interesting characters to me (his flashback episodes are ho hum), but he was a noble guy and pretty badass, and the way he went out was so fitting for him. I can't believe they killed Sayid, Jin, and Sun in the last 15 minutes of one episode.
- I was totally into the story of young!Jacob/young!Boy in Black Who Doesn't Get a Name, except it didn't really make much sense. How was Jacob able to kill the Man in Black, and repeatedly beat him up, if they aren't able to harm each other (I guess it's just, kill each other? Except the MiB totally died, that's why his skeleton was found years later by Jack et al)? Who was Allison Janney really? Where'd her ancestors come from? Was she a witch? Why did she have magical powers? How was Jacob able to show himself to Jack, Kate, et al and physically hand Jack a cup if he's a ghost/dead? What's all this nonsense about MiB only getting to leave if they all go together? Ugh, so many holes, and I don't have any real hope that there are going to be satisfying answers at the end of it.
- Still waiting to see how the alt verse from this season fits in with everything, with the characters 'remembering' their time on the island.
- WTF is going on with alt!Desmond? Why the fuck did he start manipulating everything (like running John over with his car)? Just because he met Penny? NONE OF IT MAKES ANY SENSE.
- I'm reminded of Community S2, the Christmas special, where Abed finds the first season of Lost on DVD and he says "it represents lack of payoff." LOL, it's so true.
- BTW, of COURSE Jacob's replacement would be Jack. I mean, he's such the obvious choice, especially this season when he's been all, "I was put here for a reason" guy. In a way I'm kind of disappointed that they went with the obvious choice, but oh well.
- So Locke really died, huh? That kind of sucks. They made you believe that he was really up to something/in the know, and it just turns out he was a schmuck? Wow.
- I'm waiting for the reveal that alt!Jack's ex-wife is someone we know. Juliet?
- I can't make heads or tails of Ben.
- Finally, I love Detective!Sawyer and Detective!Miles. They should do a spinoff of that. :))
