sarea: (logan - ready? ok!)

For the past week or so I've really felt like baking, so yesterday I attempted to make a pound cake. I love pound cake, but I don't think I've ever made one that I actually liked (restaurants and the supermarket serve much better ones). I have not broken that tradition. I got too caught up in playing WoW and took it out of the oven 35 min late. *facepalm* It wasn't burnt or anything, and the inside was still quite soft and moist. But I'll always wonder if I would have liked it if I'd done it properly.

My Canon PowerShot A520 arrived! W00t! I haven't had a whole lot of time to play around with it, but from what I have experimented with, it kicks ass. The only thing I would have preferred would be for the LCD to be one of those that you can open and close (like Robbie's camera), because it seems so vulnerable. Knowing me, it's so going to get scratched. I also probably need to buy a larger memory card; I'm just not sure how big I really need it to be and what a good buy would be.

I've just booked my flight for LA. I wasn't sure a) that I'd be able to get a good rate this late; b) that I had enough vacation time; and c) that I even wanted to go home, considering I'd have to either take Talis with me or stick him in a kennel. But a) Alaska was having a special for flights from here to there; b) it turns out that I have way more than enough vacation time; I'm not quite sure how that happened, considering my trip to the east coast. But we're only allowed to carry over one year's worth of vacation time, and if you don't use the rest, they're forfeit. After using the calculation tool, I will be carrying over a *full year's* worth of vacation time, so theoretically next year I could take 30 days of vacation (we get 15 days/year) O.o; c) taking him with me is cheaper than the kennel, and my mom is so excited to see him again. (He'll stay with my parents while I'm at Jade's.) The unfortunate way she boiled down my options: "So yes, either bring Talis with you or don't come home at all." Me: "..... Oh, I see how it is." Her: "What? Those are your options, right?"

Remember when I asked, if you could be the star of your own show, what your theme song would be? Well, I never answered it myself, but I've decided that it's "Push Jump (I'm a dork, I put down the wrong title!)," by Madonna (from her new album). Not that Madonna would ever allow her music to be used as the title theme for a TV show (I don't think), but since it's my fantasy world, it's my theme song. (My CD's not here or I'd link to it. I'll add it once I'm home.) Here's a YSI link if you'd like to have a listen. It'd be a futuristic show about a young woman who's trained as part of the government's elite crime-fighting forces (of course), but she's dying of some disease of the future. While she's looking for an unlikely cure, she's going to take down the people who did this to her (the government) so they can't do it to anyone else. That'll be the larger story arc, but on a weekly basis she'll help other people who have been screwed over by this corrupt government (it wasn't until she realized what they'd done to her that her eyes opened to what they truly were), so that she'll at least have done some good before her time is up -- especially considering that as part of that elite crime-fighting unit, she actually was hurting innocent people without really realizing it. It's so Alias crossed with Equilibrium crossed with Universal Soldier. :))

My dad is going to be here on Thanksgiving, w00t! He's excited about seeing Talis. Oh sure, everyone loves and misses Talis, and yet he's living with me and is home by himself 9 hours out of the day. Poor little thing.

Do you find that your body temperature drops dramatically when you're on your period (those of you who get them :p)? These things happen every month during That Time: 1) I start drinking water like a camel; 2) I crave chocolate (when normally I'm 'eh' about it); 3) I break out; 4) I get super tired (and bitchy); and 5) I get really, really cold. It can be 85 degrees outside and I'll be wearing a sweatshirt and still be cold. Unfortunately for me, it's so not 85 degrees out right now. *weeps*

And that is all for today's TMI. Tune in next week!

I don't get cold specifically but I do find that my temp is all over the place. I crave chocolate more than usual and I break out like I'm 15. I won't say I get more bitchy, because, really, how is that possible but I do have a harder time controlling it. However, I was very proud of myself this Saturday for not yelling at your cousin. :))

Also, I think your show is Dark Angel.

Hmm, that is a very good and important distinction to make. That's probably also true of me. :))

not yelling at your cousin

During which part? When he brought the lvl 28 warrior? When he kept telling us all how to play our chars before we even had a chance to do exactly what he was saying, anyway? When he kept telling us to stay to the side to not aggro things like 5 billion times, even though theoretically our aggro ranges should not have been that bad? I wonder why the hell the boys in my family are so obnoxiously bossy. (Okay, the people in my family, period.) No wonder he and my brother don't get along. Or way back to when he made us play on a PvP server, which I can now confirm that I utterly despise? It's so stupid and pointless and a waste of time.

Ewwww, not that show!! I didn't like that one at all. Of course, I only ever saw the first episode. But Jessica Alba, ew. And like, she was *too* young. And not dying (I don't think).

It wasn't our aggro ranges that were bad, it was the 28 war that was pulling everything.

I think the PvP part will get better when we're 60? Has your brother made his char yet or are you still ixnay on the alkingtay?

Dude, you're the one that described the show. I saw the first season and that's pretty much what was going on.

Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! I must change the premise of my show. *sad*

Has your brother made his char yet or are you still ixnay on the alkingtay?

We are still not speaking. We've gotten into worse fights so I'm sure we'll talk again some day. But when that will be, no one knows. I have no idea whether or not he's even made the char yet, or whether he's planning to play with his work peeps, etc. I KNOW NOTHING.

The only way the PvP thing will get 'better' is that it will be harder to gank us. But really, what is the point? Now we can go out to STV and camp Nesingwary's? We still have to be wary of 'the enemy' when we're out doing quests. It's just, if I wanted to PvP, they have ways of letting you do that, you know? I like PvP in controlled situations, and you can get that on normal servers as well as PvP. The only difference with PvP servers is that it'll take you longer to get to 60, because you're constantly running back to your corpse after trying to turn in a quest. NOT THAT THAT HAPPENED TO US A DOZEN TIMES IN STV YESTERDAY OR ANYTHING.

I find that my primary PMS symptom is raging paranoia. I firmly believe that everyone who knows me dislikes me, and only puts up with me out of politeness. And then the cramps start and I realize that nobody's ignoring me, I'm just insane.

Body temperature

Usually by about 0.2-0.5 Kelvin. That's the reason, why you feel cold - because your body is warmer, so you feel the difference to the outside more. The same reason with alcohol: ethanol (which is alcohol) decreases your body temp and therefore you feel warmer yourself. Of course the chance of freezing to death in this state is much higher. And the decrease of body temp also slows the correct working of your senses - as fever (and yes, your period too) increase those ...
Craving for chocolate: please show me any woman who doesn't long for it at those times (well, okay, who don't know about it and not the ones who don't like it - but there are few). I personally not only crave chocolate, but ice cream as well ...
I get a bit tired, seldom bitchy, but a bit more impatient and people tend to get on my nerves faster ... :)

So it's all perfectly normal and functional .... :)

And it's a good way to distinguish if the current bf you have actually suits you biologically perfectly - if he still smells good: go ahead with the relationship. ;)

Wow, interesting! That does explain a lot -- thanks for telling me about that!

Hee, in your show, might the romantic lead be of the lean, blonde(ish) snarky persuasion possibly?
Very interesting show indeed, I would definitely watch it (I would probably get into it though after hearing you say such good things about it that curiosity forced me into it :P). Did you ever hear about a show called Dark Angel? It wasn't a brilliant one and when it showed over here it was on Channel 5 I think (the UK equiv. to UPN I guess), but if the structure of your show appeals to you, you might have liked it.

The thing is, your period symptoms are things are things I suffer from normally - 2) I crave chocolate check. 4) I get super tired (and bitchy) check. 5) I get really, really cold. check - I have next to no blood circulation in my hands and feet. Odd.
I have rather bittersweet periods - on the one hand they are thankfully short, 4 days max. On the other, on the first day I suffer from chronic intense cramps and vomiting. Humbug.

Hahaha, I only just saw the comments from before. Jessica Alba is on the pathetic side of the actress spectrum. But hey, if you were watching it purely from a plot-interest perspective...yeah, it's your show. :P

I had no idea!! I don't even remember what DA was about, but apparently, I stole its plot. Wah. I'll come up with something else.

I also get very little circulation in my extremeties!! I hate it, because it's so hard to fall asleep when your feet are like blocks of ice. :(
