I went out to lunch today and started reading Ender's Game.

Wow.

Why has no one ever rec'ed this book to me before? I'm only four chapters in, and I'm riveted. It might even pull me away from WoW. I'm not even a huge sci-fi fan. He almost had me in tears in chapter two. Is there anyone as w00bie as Ender? I don't know if he's actually going to grow up through the course of this book, but part of me hopes not. He's so the new Harry Potter. Only, he came before Harry. And I don't think I ever adored Harry the way I'm already starting to adore Ender. (HP has always been more about the amazing world JKR created, for me.)

Is it wrong that I'm getting Ender/Valentine vibes?

Ender's Game is a masterpiece. I never recommended it? My fault! I consider it required reading - it is an excellent sci-fi novel with very strong characterization. I'd say more about what makes it unique, but I don't wanna spoil the ending ;)

Definitively try the sequels. They are not as good, but the first two are strong stories. The last one is very, er, strange - some people love it, some hate it.

Oh, and word on the Ender/Valentine vibes - but hey, can it be worse than all those R/G fics? :p

You are forgiven. ;) V. good information to have about the others. I sense that if I like the book, I'll definitely want to at least check out the sequel, even though people seem torn about that one. E/V in a way is creepier, because it's canon. I don't really see R/G in canon at all.
