I thought I wrote about this but I guess I didn't. I think I feel this way because I have talked about it sooooo much in person and in email, lol.

So, as usual, my backyard looks like shit. My front yard looks better, but not great. You guys, I hate lawn maintenance. I hate it so much. Like, it is totally the worst part of home ownership, having to deal with it. If it were just the lawn itself, then fine, whatever. It's a pain but I can deal. But it turns out, there's soooo much more. Stuff has to be pruned every season! Cracks in your driveway can start to grow stuff! It's hard to mow edges! Weeds and unwanted things grow everywhere! A big windstorm can make your lovely lavender plant go sideways and you can't pull it straight again! Etc.

From the moment I bought the house, I had plans to do something with the backyard. But of course, the first year or so, it wasn't too bad, because the previous owners took at least some care with it, and that gave me some procrastination space. Now, it's just a mess. I don't even want to face mowing it (even though the weeds/grass are so long my dog can't even get through it to do his business). Plus, my front lawn is getting very patchy and brown, so I'm afraid of getting another notice from my homeowner's association. SIGH. Anyway, all of this came to a head and I finally stopped procrastinating about getting some work done. I found a highly rated landscaping company on Yelp, and they got back to me after a few days.

The long of it. )

But now I'm totally looking forward to a redone yard, and especially about having a nice place to hang out and grill. In fact, I am SO excited about having a BBQ party that I impulsively bought a grill! I have always wanted one... it seems like one of the hallmarks of being an adult, and I love eating grilled meat. Anyway, when I lived in my condo I had a small hibachi, but I never used it when I lived in my previous house.

All about the grill. )

Come late July, when [profile] jade_okelani is supposed to be in town, in THEORY I should have a beautiful new backyard and an awesome new grill set up. FINGERS CROSSED.

Hmm, wow, okay, apparently I never completed my thoughts about the Hwarang watch. Oh well, K-drama update another day!

Today's post is going to be about cleaning and organizing! That's right, it's that once in a blue moon post.

Looks like I've hired a housekeeper! More deets. )

On the organizational front, I am IN LOVE with my new makeup organizer. I can't even recall what prompted me to look for something like this on Amazon, and there were a number of good choices, but I'm happy with the one I ended up choosing. Maybe what prompted me was simply that my counter was becoming OVERRUN by all the new lipsticks I've been getting. Not to mention allllll the samples that I have. The awesome thing is that the makeup organizer actually fit much more than I was expecting. Not only is it able to store all the lipstick I have; it actually is able to store a ton of my samples! (Excludes: hair care samples, which I have another storage area for; packet samples, which I keep in a drawer; and brushes/eye liner pencils and such, because I have another organizer for those.) Check it out. )

I'm so pleased with it I've also ordered an organizer for nail polish, because that, too, is out of control.

Another inspiration for all this is [personal profile] slitherhither, who was talking about kitchen cabinet organization the other day. I'm planning to keep an inventory of all the stuff in my cabinet that basically gets lost/forgotten because they're shoved so deep in the back it's like they might as well not exist. Only, I don't have the patience to collect wooden boxes/printer paper lids as she suggested, and have simply just purchased more organizer-type baskets off Amazon. I've gotta take advantage of this desire to organize while I'm still feeling it.

I meant to post about this ages ago, but... yeah.

A few months ago, [personal profile] adelagia and I went full fangirl and purchased tickets to see One Direction in concert at CenturyLink Field in July. Can't wait!!! I mean, yes, we realize that we may have to befriend a few teenage girls in order to seem as if we're chaperoning them, but whatever.

This concert is also the reason I was able to pay for a new water heater (because of course it went kaput during a cold wave in November). What? )

Their new album "Four"... The songs I liked right after getting it are still the songs I like best: Night Changes, Fool's Gold and Act My Age. A couple, Clouds and No Control, I really didn't like at all on first listen, but have somewhat grown on me. (Only somewhat. I still prefer almost any of their other songs over those two.)

Finally... Harry's hair. I may be in the minority, but he needs to cut it off. Not entirely, but it is so long and greasy now that I cannot take it. He used to be so attractive and now, with that hair, he's not even cute anymore. I felt the same way about the actors' hair in Goblet of Fire. I couldn't watch that movie for years because of it.
