*cue cheesy, swelling romantic music*

*runs, then embraces Internet*

*single tear slides down cheek*

Oh, Internet. How I've missed you! Never leave me again! I actually looked (a bit) forward to coming in to work today. I don't know that that's ever happened before. It seems like SO LONG since I've been online, and it's only been a week ... not even that. It's my crack.

What I really haven't done in a week/more is play WoW. I miss it. I dream about it. I am almost afraid to sign on after today to see if I still have sergeant status. :-S Of course, I can't actually sign on until I have Internet access at home, which I do not. The kit should have arrived by now, but it hasn't, leaving me, Jade, and Robbie to do the unthinkable -- talk to each other and stuff. It's just doesn't feel right without one or more of our faces reflecting the otherworldly glow of a computer monitor. Also, we have been eating way too much food.

I am mostly moved out of my condo and into the new house. There's still Stuff at the old place (I am prone to giving in to despair and crying dramatically, "You win, Stuff! YOU WIN."), but it's slowly getting moved over. There is NO WAY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH that this move could have happened without Jade and Robbie. Well, it would have happened eventually, but then it would be 2006 and I would probably be in a mental institution. (Shut up, Amelia.) This is even despite the fact that Robbie crashed her rental car into my garage (she backed out with one of the back doors still open, wrecking the car door and crazily twisting the track that the garage uses).

Yay to Sears for 1) having a black fridge that fit into the space I have for a fridge; 2) delivering it at 10am the day after I bought it; 3) having a helpful sales guy who reminded me of Ryan Gosling. Boo to Comcast for 1) failing to deliver the Internet kit speedily; 2) failing to get the kit out at all, as I have found out this morning. >:( But yay to them for giving me broadband access AND basic cable for $29.99/mo til the end of the year. W00t.

My new place has this security system (once it's activated this weekend) where there are motion detectors, and if you turn it on at night and forget, then move around where the motion detectors are, you will have a bunch of police and what not on your doorstep. So I hope we don't forget.

Oh yeah. I had my annual review meeting with my manager on Thursday and I got a promotion! More money, more work, yadda yadda. He knew about my house, so maybe he decided to use his powers for Good.

Does anyone know whether high-speed Internet access through cable is the same as DSL with regard to routers/wireless connectivity? See, I have DSL now, and a wireless router, and I love it. But at the new place, I was thinking I'd cut out the necessity of a land line, and use cable broadband instead of DSL ... only, I don't know if this would affect the wireless part. I don't think it would be worth switching if it meant that I'd lose my wireless capabilities (at least, without having to pay them to do it for me).

The packing is going very well. And it's all due to [livejournal.com profile] ropo and [livejournal.com profile] jade_okelani, who have been phenomenal. There are many boxes packed, and I've only done like two of them. Sadly, the place still looks far from empty. *weeps* I don't know what happened to Robbie or who this imposter is in her place, but she has been downright organizational and all proactive and stuff. She yells at me for not labeling boxes correctly. She banned me from playing WoW until more things have been packed. (Going ... into ... withdrawal ...) But she frightens me most when she adopts an Australian accent and demands that I have to cut what I own (mainly books) by "hauff." She claims she's imitating some guy from one of those decorating/home improvement shows ... but I just don't know. Given everything else, she might actually be that guy in disguise.

And in the best news ever, I am a SERGEANT! PH34R ME, LOWBIES!!! Of course, I have not been able to prance around with my new rank at all, given the banning and everything. :'(

And to no one's surprise... I am a Pure Nerd. )

Cut for whininess and freaking out about the new house. )

Currently I'm rereading OotP (to see if I could possibly grow to like it a little bit more) and Americans at War by Stephen Ambrose. I really enjoy his writing, for some reason.

Also, you can call me Grunt Elisabeth from now on. I know, not very impressive, is it? The good news is, I'm more than 1/3 of the way to Sergeant. Now that's a rank to respect. Problem is, even if we played WSG every day for the next week and got to that rank, we probably won't have much time to play next week, and we'll probably drop right back down to Grunt. Woe.

Edit: At last, a church I could see myself attending.
