I finished my part of IYOK7. It was apparently so inconceivable that when I called Jade to say that something exciting was waiting for her in her inbox, it took her over ten minutes to guess what it was. She had even narrowed down her guessing to something related to "fanfic" and still she couldn't imagine that I had finished it. She even guessed that Cassie had posted DV16 (I said "no," not realizing that Cassie had, in fact, actually posted DV16). But anyway, now we have to edit each other's parts, make sure that we've got all the details in that we need to get in for the chapter, and then do a final sanity check. Only spanner in the works is that Jade is going to be out of town basically from tomorrow through the weekend, so any delay can be placed squarely at her door. *shifts blame easily*

Know what else I do easily? Cry. Movies, TV, books, all can get me fairly emotional and the tears just well up. Fanfic, however, doesn't make me cry. I can't think of a single occasion in which fanfic has made me cry -- I'm not sure why that is, exactly, as there are certainly talented writers out there who write angsty situations. But man, DV16 came as close as anything to it!! I actually teared up! Which for me and fanfic, is saying something. Also, Blaise might be my new favorite character. Maybe she should take up with Ginny if things don't work out with Draco. ;) My two favorite passages were... Spoilers! And hypotheses. )

Want to hear something ironic? The thing that might make me actually stop playing World of Warcraft is the game itself. I've been too obsessed with it, and this is life's way of saying, "Stop playing that damn game." WoW woes. )

My supercomputer is never going to be built, because I'm lame. *performs self flagellation while weeping* This also means I'm never going to play WoW. My just desserts.

If you haven't already, tell me what your song is! :D A CD with 5 songs on it is, well, sad. You don't want me to have a sad CD, do you? WELL DO YOU???? All right; I see how it is. :-l

One good bit of news is ... Cassie responded to my questions on her character meme, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by a couple of the answers. Dare I hope for a D/G ending yet? Well, whatever happens, I've had hours of fun with the DT, and without it I would never have met any of y'all, so I don't regret a moment. Plus it's fun to be obsessive about it -- there's so much fodder.

I've gone and found out when Sark is going to make an appearance on Alias. After Buffy S6 I quit spoilers cold turkey, because they were wrecking my enjoyment of the show ... but since Alias doesn't have that far to sink, I figured at least this way I would know when I could look forward to an episode.

And here's what I like to call the "So how big a geek were you, exactly?" meme:

List five fictional people -- from television, movies, books, whatever -- that you had a crush on as a child (or early teens). Then post this on your LiveJournal so other people can be assured that you're as weird as they thought.

* Jack Kelley, from Newsies (The obsession with Christian Bale started here. See how loyal I've been through the years?)
* Gilbert Blythe, from Anne of Green Gables (And then again when I saw the movies.)
* Prince Eric, from The Little Mermaid (There is nothing more fruitless than lusting after a cartoon character.)
* Sam Beckett, from Quantum Leap (My friend and I used to sign our notes "Mrs. Scott Bakula." Apparently it didn't bother us that we were polygamists.)
* Logan Bruno, from The Baby-sitter's Club (Am I the only one who read these? :"> I loved Logan. I wanted my own Logan. I hear he and Mary Anne eventually broke up; that makes me sad. :'( )

Wow. Read Cassie's DV14 cookies and have been reading the comments ... I had no idea so many people loathed DV Hermione the way I do! It's such a wonderful feeling! I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand the bitch. Actually, DT Hermione in general makes me want to kick her until all the bones in my foot break. She's just so ridiculously perfect (and I mean in the sense that none of the characters except Ginny think she can do any wrong). Oh yes, Hermione could never be wrong.

Hermione is beautiful and smart and serene and has all three heroes in love with her. Puuuuuuke. The worst thing about it is that she's a complete hypocrite (my biggest pet peeve), and so far from deserving the pedestal both Harry and Draco put her on that it reflects poorly on them. Everything about her makes me roll my eyes. I had ceased hoping that Hermione would ever get her come uppance (and perhaps she still won't, not really), thinking that this was just Cassie's preferred characterization of her. It's surprising and gratifying to think that I was perhaps not giving Cassie enough credit.

However, I'm going to table that until I see the actual scene. Just because Rhysenn has exposed what I consider a truth about Hermione (her unbelievable, unending selfishness), doesn't mean that that's actually the conclusion that will come out of it. It's very possible that Hermione's status as She Who Can Do No Wrong will only be affirmed, with Rhysenn shown as being "wrong." Bleah.
