Meg Cabot has a short story called "Party Planner" in this Red Dress Ink compliation called Girls' Night In. It's really cute, and takes place in the same universe as Boy Next Door and Boy Meets Girl. It's too short, and I wanted it to go on and on (as is typical when I read Meg), but still v. worth reading.
And to prove it, here's an excerpt! (Warning, images are large.) Page 1, Pages 2 & 3, Pages 4 & 5, Pages 6 & 7
Other reasons to get the book: 1) Also has stories from other writers like Sophie Kinsella, Marian Keyes, Jennifer Weiner, and Megan McCafferty! 2) Proceeds go to War Child, an "international relief and development agency, dedicated to providing immediate, effective and sustainable aid to some of the most vulnerable children caught up in conflict around the world."
So you see, you can have your chick lit and help kids too.
Prince of Persia 1 & 2 are now both unlocked! PoP2 is slightly more tolerable than PoP1, but really, I don't think I can play either of them without wanting to hurt someone. And btw? Rose Byrne is my vote for PoP!Movie!Farah. :D
Also,
jade_okelani has Internet access again!! Get to beta'ing, you wench.
Oh NO!!!! LOOK WHAT JADE FOUND! Who is this hussy????? :((
And now I'm laughing, because of this: South Park Prince of Persia
Jade has found out how Farah fits into Prince of Persia: Warrior Within:
IGN: Where is Farah? Will there be another character that takes the place of Farah? A new sidekick of sorts?
Yannis Mallat: Everything has an end, even good things. Farah, as we speak, is still residing in her Father's kingdom in India, wondering if the Prince she saw was real, and if the answer is yes, then how could the Prince know the "pivotal" word that only she knew? You definitely need to have finished The Sands of Time to understand that sentence.
At least we know why the Prince got away from her, remember she betrayed him at some point. But Farah already played her role. That was for the story side. On the gameplay side, a sidekick character is for sure giving a lot of cool opportunities. We would be dumb ignoring that. And guess what, we're not dumb ;) Now, the gameplay and story mechanics may be a little different but the goal is still the same: to bring emotional thrills to the players - we know how to do that.
All I have to say about this is: :-l x 10000000000000
Though, eeeeeee. *THUD* Could the Prince get any hotter?! He's all, tortured!fanfic! Draco. Jeebus:
For ten years (or roundabouts), the Prince has been hunted by the Dahaka. He's been driven from his homeland -- terrorized by this unbeatable force no living man can conquer. For ten years he hasn't slept, he hasn't rested, he hasn't loved. He now ventures across the world seeking a solution to his problem -- a way to bring death to the Dahaka and life to his broken existence. He's looking for a way to defeat Fate, not cheat it. Every waking second up till this point he has spent training, fighting, looking over his shoulder, and fleeing a force of destructive willpower that has been set loose upon him. No more running.
Let that sink in a bit. Imagine taking the incredibly skilled fighter and acrobat we've come to know in The Sands of Time, and torturing him for a frickin' decade. Now we have a person that's tougher, more ruthless, and more jaded. Now we have a person that is the unquestionable, undisputed bad ass of the planet. He may fear nothing, but he's still not stupid. The Prince realizes he can't outright defeat the Dahaka, so he devises a new plan. Still carrying the amulet Farah left by his side toward the end of The Sands of Time, he seeks to discover that place where The Sands were originally conceived.
I can't believe they've tortured him for TEN YEARS. No wonder he's all dark and insane and no longer peppy.

Date: 2004-10-20 03:46 am (UTC)is the rest of the Girls Night In book good?
I'd reccommend reading another compilation called American Girls About Town.
I really enjoyed it. I'd recommend it.

Date: 2004-10-20 11:33 pm (UTC)To be honest I haven't read any other stories in the GNI book yet -- I really bought it for Meg's story, and while I'll get to the others in time, I'll probably finish some other books I have in the queue first.

Date: 2004-10-20 11:08 pm (UTC)And hey, the Prince still wearing Farah's medallion? <3's
My prediction is that the Prince will prevent the Sands of Time form being created, which means that maybe he will not live those 10 years post-PoP1 when PoP2 ends.. We'll see.

Date: 2004-10-20 11:29 pm (UTC)Actually, I already know your prediction to be correct -- and in fact it goes even beyond. I stopped updating my LJ with every little tidbit that Jade found, but we did read another article in which it basically says, "If the Prince is successful, the Sands of Time will never be created and the events of PoP:tSoT, will not have happened." Jade and I were all bitter about this, because it's like, "Yeah, we're going to make sure Farah doesn't remember the Prince, even more." :-l
