Today is also, apparently,
LJ Comment Day
When: September 7th, 2004 ( Why September 7th? )
Where: On your own LJ, and on your Flist
What: Pledge to 1) Post something interesting and commentable on your own journal that day and 2) Make sure that you leave at least 20 comments on your Flist. The ULTIMATE goal would be to comment to everything that posts, but that might not be possible.
How: Post these instructions on your own LJ and spread the word to friends that you would like to hear from/want to let know how much you enjoy what they have to say. If you'd like to link to the art, you may put it on your own webspace, or direct link to http://ww2.imagewiz.net/images/hllalah/119433_untitled.JPG. Then, when September 7th rolls around, set a half-hour or so aside to reply to what some of your pals have to say!
My tally: 20, baybeee!!!!!
Guess what was waiting for me at the post office today? Alias S3 and Angel S4! I am very pleased, Overstock.com.
I also got: Billy Elliot, one of the best movies evar, and 13 Going on 30. I loved it the first time, and the second time it was still cute. It's Jennifer Garner who really sells it. I enjoyed the "So I Was a Teenage Geek" feature -- OMG JG was such a geek, as was the gal who played grown-up Tom-Tom. How did these women get it in their heads to pursue a career in Hollywood?? But their past geekiness makes me glad for their current success. Rock on, geek chicks. Now JG is one of the coolest heroines ever. :D
If you could be the heroine from any movie, who would you be and why?

Date: 2004-09-08 12:30 am (UTC)I would be the heroine I've thought up in my own head called "Kentucky" about some Irish settlers who come across the Appalachain mountains to stake a claim. The dreamer Irish husband would be Sean Bean, and his wife who just wants to stay put would be me ("I'll build you a castle kitty, with a pretty stone tower and-" "I don't want a castle. I want a little house, and a yard.. (she's still angsting about being dragged off Ireland by her father)" "Fine, I'll build you a gate!"). The possibly-a-crook french guy who leads their little expedition across the mountains would be George Clooney, who was lusty for me, and fought with my husband. Our littlest kid would wander off into the woods, but Sean would make me continue on, which would cause great strain between us, wherein I would begin a dangerous flirtation with George. Then, during an Indian raid, Sean dies! Oh, no! and I have to prostitute myself to George to be taken the rest of the way to Kentucky, where we all hole up with Daniel Boone at Ft. Boonesboro for the last big siege (which I can't be bothered to look up details about right now, but hell its a movie so I'll change it all to historical innacuracy), and (when confronting the political-correctness gorilla of whether it was okay to kill the Indians) that the land isn't yours because you're willing to die for it, its yours because you're willing to kill... then, at the end, we'd (me and my surviving children) go to our little patent, which is nothing more than a nondescript patch of woods and put our little stake in the ground (its the gate post, see) and be all cute and ruggedly pioneering :D And then the music would swell and the scene would all melt into how it is today (a la "How the West Was Won"). Er...yeah. I've thought about this WAY too much.
If it had to be a real film, then...I'd be Eowyn in LOTR

Date: 2004-09-08 12:59 am (UTC)Toughie...Jet Girl from Tank Girl. She has it rough at the start but she finds her power by the end. Or maybe Angelina Jolie's character from Hackers.

Date: 2004-09-08 02:39 am (UTC)Anyway, I'd be Danielle De Barbarac in "Ever After." She's strong, independent and marries the handsome prince while getting back at her ebil family members. Sounds pleasant to me. :D

Date: 2004-09-08 08:10 pm (UTC)Seriously? The best thing about the show is Michael Rosenbaum/Lex.

Date: 2004-09-08 04:42 am (UTC)Heehee... and good news about getting your TV show DVDs. Those seriously are the best! I still want to get Gilmore Girls season 1 along with all the Star Trek: TNG and M*A*S*H. I also can't wait until they release the remaining Northern Exposure and Roswell DVDs... oh what a blast that will be! I swear, I can never get sick of those shows!
*hugs*
