This weekend is going to be an Oscars-movie-watching one. On Saturday I'm going to see Master and Commander and 21 Grams, then Sunday will be Lost in Translation. LiT is going to be w/ M., who's really cool but who I haven't ever done anything w/ outside of work, and S., who I met at a training session the other day. Get this: S. is really unhappy w/ his job; he wants to leave, his manager is unsupportive (a different manager hired him, and the "new regime" wants to kick everyone out), etc. The three of us have chatted a couple of times, and all we do is bitch about work (because you need those kind of friends). Anyway, I told S. to bring his wife. So he goes, Okay, I'll bring her, but you guys can't say ANYTHING about how bad it is at work. Apparently, his wife has no idea just how miserable he is, and that he thinks they're trying to get rid of him, because he doesn't want her to "worry." I'm like, dude, she of all of us ought to know!!! *headdesk* Anyway, it's not my place, and the whole purpose of this outing was to get AWAY from work, so it's fine w/ me not to talk about it, but now I have to make sure I don't slip! It's so fucked up.

Angel last night was so amazingly good. The previews already had me pretty excited, but when I saw it was DeKnight and a Drew (I can never remember if it's Goddard or Greenberg who's good) who wrote the ep, I was way beyond that. And it was fab. I needed a cigarette afterward. Andrew was absolutely one of my favorite characters by the end of Buffy last season, but I had forgotten just how much I loved him. (You can ask Jade.) Of course, by the end of this episode, I remembered why, and wished that my hopes of both Spike and Andrew being on AtS would have come true. They play off one another really well -- they're such opposites -- and Andrew is a scream. He makes me laugh all the time, which is why I lurve him so. The only complaint I have is his hair, which needed serious grooming. "Slayer of the vamPYRES." *snickersnickersnicker*

I'm pretty much loving AtS this season, and have no real complaints. Well, I miss Connor like crazy and I wish Cordy had been around, but other than that. I do think it's a bit unbelievable that Buffy didn't call Angel immediately and go, "So what's this I hear about your working for Wolfram & Hart?" if she had such issues w/ it, as she apparently does. Also, I'm sure Dana can't have been the only unstable girl to have been made a Slayer during the whole "let's make everyone a Slayer" extravaganza of S7. And given that so many were made Slayers, how sad is it that Dawn wasn't?!

I have been writing. I know it doesn't seem like I have, but I swear I have. Just not any of my current WIPs. It's another story.

Mmm, cookie.

"Amelia's a bit extreme, but she's right. Sometimes, a shag's just a shag."

"But you don't even know them," Ginny burst out.

"Why do you have to know them?"

"Because!" Ginny said. "How can you do those things with a man if you don't know anything about him? It's – I can't imagine it!"

"Ginny, are you telling us that you've only had sex within the boundaries of a 'meaningful, committed relationship'?" Both women were looking at her pityingly.

Ginny felt as though she were in the seventh dimension. The answer, of course, was 'yes,' but though intellectually she knew that was something to be glad about, the way they were looking at her made her feel as if she were an awkward schoolgirl who had never been asked to dance. "Yes, and I'm sure I wouldn't want it any other way," she answered without as much conviction as she might have hoped for.

"How do you know, if you've never experienced anything else?" Robin asked.

"There are just some things you know," Ginny declared, not willing to concede the point. "And meaningless sex with a complete stranger--" sounds oddly appealing when I say it out loud "--is not something that I'm interested in."

"Haven't you ever seen a guy you just wanted to tie to a bed for three full days and only come up for air when the lack of oxygen meant that you'd pass out and miss some of the fun?" Amelia asked.

"No, but I'm guessing you have," Robin said, grinning.

"Mmm. Oh, yes."

"Who's the latest?"

"Well, this isn't very original, since every witch I know is panting after him, and I never really quite saw the draw myself, but..."

"Oh, no," Ginny said, feeling her heart sinking in her chest. What was it about him that made women react this way? It was ridiculous. If only they'd known him when he was an adolescent brat, they would most certainly not feel this way. That was how she herself had gotten immunized, after all. "Not--"

*gasp*

"Explaining" Andrew is a task for someone more talented than me. : ) He was a character on BtVS in the last season ... or possibly the last two seasons, I don't remember anymore. He, along with two of his friends, were Buffy's foes for awhile, but through certain circumstances he found himself looking to the Scooby gang for guidance, and ended up becoming "good." He was just always really geeky and awkward and funny, and I found him v. endearing.

Cordy's actually supposed to return in the next episode, and she's one of my favorite characters on the show ... until what they did to her last season, that is.

I like Alexis Denisoff more than I love Wesley ... on the show, I don't have much use for him. I loved him initially -- he was almost an Andrew-type character -- but when he got all competent he wasn't any fun anymore. <g> His involvement in the whole Connor scenario, followed by his relationship w/ Lilah, was the last time he was even remotely interesting (to me).

I don't know whether to hate you or love you madly. I will settle on love with this icon since I'm laughing too hard to be truly :-L.

You ought to love me madly, of course!!! :-*

That Amelia. What a ho.

BTW, I hear you're sick??? I hope you feel better (is it the flu?) -- I know how crappy that is. I whined enough about it when I was sick.

I feel the love. :-*

Sort of sick. I'm queasy but haven't actually yakked. Right now I'm at work teaching kindergarteners. What fun!

Mostly my sicknes results in odd dreams. Odd naked dreams. See my lj for an example.

You work around disease spreaders, and now you're spreading it to them. It's a vicious cycle.

Dude, I'm hardly even sick anymore and I ALSO HAD A WEIRD DREAM THAT NIGHT!!!!!!! I think this is a really freakish coincidence. I dreamt that I was pregnant, only I really, really didn't want to be, and had zero maternal feelings toward the baby (it was like I was the Prom Mom or something). It was a boy, and after "giving birth" to him (by simply peeling him away from my stomach, which only seemed a little strange in the dream), I discovered that I was STILL pregnant, only this time w/ a girl. It was like my life was over.

I'd always thought I'd want to have kids eventually, but maybe my subconscious is saying "No, you really don't." :o

So yeah, give me a cute-guy-shows-up-naked dream any day. :-l

Or it means you're crazy. We can be crazy together.

My naked dream would have been better if something had actually happened. As it was, all I know is that I don't have breast cancer and I don't get to make out with cute naked men. There is some sort of symbolism there which I am loathe to investigate.

Gah!!!

But at least you know there is actually story being written! I think it's going to be about four parts and I have the first part written.
