Am finally reading "Trouble in Paradise" by AngieJ. I'm still so new to this fandom and sort of a fringe participant that I find "must read" stories all the time that are completely new to me. This appears to be one of those. I really admire the fact that she's written this huge novel from a 3rd party POV, and can't wait to see how successful it is. The only trouble I might have is ... because it's fanfic and I'm working with pre-established interests, I'm not sure how interested I can really get in Angelina's affairs. Of course, if done right ... of course I will be.

I've heard soooo much about My So-Called Life that when Alicia offered to lend me her DVDs I gladly accepted. I want to at least get a gander at what everyone talks about and -- for the most part -- praises. I never saw a single episode of this show when it was on the air. So far I've watched the first 6 episodes and I think it's good (though each of the characters have annoyed me at least once), but don't quite understand its cult-like following. From what I've seen, it's a good show, and as such having gotten canceled must have been a real disappointment -- maybe that's where it's from. Anyway, I can't really relate to Angela, who I think is kind of bratty, but I adore Brian ... and Rickie ... and now, Jordan's rather grown on me, because he's such a doofus. <g> Rayanne grated on my nerves the first couple of episodes, but she's all right now. Anyway ... we'll see what the next 13 episodes will bring ...

Last night was struck w/ an idea for another series. Now I have four possible projects on my plate, and yet I have done zero writing in the past week or so. Sometimes I miss school, if only for the deadlines. The threat of a poor grade got my ass in gear when nothing else would. At least I did this week's MM topic on time. Woohoo!

Am on page 70 or so of Laura Kinsale's Midsummer Moon. Don't know why Kinsale is spoken of so highly ... the book is readable, that's for sure, and 90% better than many trashy romances ... but after all the hype I keep waiting to be struck by the lightning of her genius or something. Hype is never a good thing for me; always tends to affect the result negatively. SIGH. Maybe it's just that her heroines are refreshingly different? Because I'll definitely give her that, at least for this book (can't speak on the others as have not read them). The hero thus far as been pretty much your typical romance hero ... it's only by picturing him looking like Draco that I've been able to see why the heroine finds him so attractive. <g>
