Had my yearly review today. Gawd how I hate those. It was pretty much what I expected, although that doesn't make it any less disappointing. It's not so much the money (I received a bonus but not a salary raise) as it is that I have no one to blame but myself. Well, okay, I could also blame my jackass of a boss, but if I'd reaaaalllly wanted to, I could have risen above the crap. Trouble is, the thing I do better than anything else is procrastination. I'm just not motivated. I don't care. All I want to do is read LJ, read/write fanfic, play [livejournal.com profile] triumvirate, watch movies, read books, and chat w/ Jade and Robbie. The problem is, I feel so guilty doing any of these things when I ought to want to be doing my work, that nothing gets done. Is that contrary or what?

You know how I've been needing to clean my place? Yes, procrastination strikes again. But now I've GOTTA do it. My cousin just wrote, reminding me that she and her husband are going to be here over Labor Day weekend. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeek. Here's my problem: When I first got Talis, Jade came up here to help me housebreak him. The guest bedroom was the scene of many an unfortunate "accident" during that time. Usually with concentrated accidents, I just clean up and then use Nature's Miracle ... works like a charm. The problem is, I have practically doused that whole room in NM and it's still smelly. It drives me crazy. If I leave the door open, the smell goes away. But the second the door is closed for any significant period of time, it comes back. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? What can I do, short of buying a steam cleaner or hiring people to come clean the carpet???

I was reading some fanfic today, and I ran across a couple of passages that made me snort water up my nose. I won't name the fic or the author, but this was damn funnay.

Her knees were trembling as she went down hill and she had almost never been so scared in her life, she was afraid she'd crash and kill someone or herself. Suddenly, as if Draco knew she was coming, he stopped, took off his helmet and turned around. Just as Ginny came down and crashed into him, landing right on top of him and their lips met. Slowly Ginny came out of her shock and felt something inside of her. Her heart was beating so fast as she closed her eyes for a few seconds and opened them again to see Draco's eyes starring straight into her own.
My bold. Umm, damn that Draco is a fast worker. I shared it w/ Jade, who inserted her own line into the story at that point: "When he felt her coming towards him, he of course immediately dropped trou, praying that she would land properly. And oh, she did. Yes, she did."

And then later...

"What happened?" asked Harry with worry as he walked up to Ginny's bed with Hermione and Ron.

"She went snowboarding and sadly fell off a cliff," answered Professor Dumbledore.
V. sad indeed, Dumbledore. V. sad indeed.

*falls down to read the badfic again*

See, this is why I never need read badfic on my own. I just need you to read it and copy the pertinent parts.

This is why we get along so well. Replace "Jade" with "Sarea" in your above list, and that's all I ever want to do, too.

Have actually spent the last few hours being productive, however. I suspect it is only because you weren't here to chat with and I'd hit a block in my fanfic, and the rest of my computer was tied up DLing songs off Kazaa with my sad little 56k modem so I couldn't use it to do anything else, AND I was dubbing off Hart's War for you in my VCR...

Hmmm. Clearly the only way I will actually do work that needs to get done is if all other stimuli is cruelly taken away from me. (Though I feel I deserve some sort of props for not picking up Ready, Okay! and reading.)

His eyes were starring into hers? Wouldn't that hurt or something? It'd be like staring directly at the sun.

Sounds like the carpet pad has been affected. If you kind of know what areas were "affected" you can use borax and hot water. But it might be a steam cleaning job.

Hey, I just popped by, had been wanting to check out your LJ after you helped me out with a certain invitation...*coughtriumviratecough*

Anyway, I remembered seeing this from [livejournal.com profile] hip_domestics. I believe she's referring to a previous post with other ideas, but I thought I'd link the one which showed her success story. Good luck!

Oh, thank you so much!! Looks like I really will have to get a steam cleaner. Yikes. How funny that this was also in her second bedroom. Our poor guests. :))

Eep. Dude, when we bought our house we found out that the previous owner's cat had peed repeatedly in the same spot in the bedroom floor. It had seeped into the SUBFLOOR under the carpet pad, so we had to rip out all the carpet/pad and replace that section of subfloor. X-(

That whole first paragraph? That's me too.

Work, who needs work? Unfortunately, I do. *sigh* Good luck with the second bedroom.

Yet another thing we have in common. I am so with you on the procrastination and the inability to clean. Finally forced myself to clean the apartment after 3 months of NO CLEANING whatsoever because I was leaving for vacation and didn't want to return to squalor. Funny because in HS and most of college I was Ms. Motivation, but now it's all been suckered out of me. It's all about refreshing LJ friends page and downloading all the old chapters of WIPs I'm reading so I can go back and re-read them at any time to remember what's going on in that particular fic. Yay, procrastination!

I had my first class of the new semester today. I waited until the absolute last minute before I *had* to get dressed to leave. I sat around all day reading LJ, whining about not being in upstate New York and fiddling with writing. I'm mourning the loss of summer where I did absolutely nothing but sat around in front of the computer most of the time. *sigh*

Don't feel guilty, it is a fact of life. We all do it. Relish it while you can :)

Can we form some kind of club for the first paragraph? I could use a support group - mainly for more movie and book recs, squee sessions over Triumvirate, new people to chat with, new LJs to read and comment on and new sources for the good, hot fan fic.

Yeah.....*Homer drool*

love, lore

Hmmm, that's an idea! What would we call it, [livejournal.com profile] pr0crastinat0rs? [livejournal.com profile] t00binators? [livejournal.com profile] the_bored? Or maybe, [livejournal.com profile] apathyologists. Hahahahhaa.

We might be able to get something going w/ all of those things as interests except the Triumvirate squeeing, which may be a bit too specialized. OR we can get a bunch of new people into it. Yeaaaahhhhh ...

IIRC, it's from a scene in one of the HP movies ... Probably SS/PS?
