The nice thing about having you guys, my LJ chummies, is that whatever random thing I get into, there's at least one or two of you who are already into it and we can have fun discussions about it. :D (Though I wish more of you were into WoW. *sniff*) The new thing I've started, TV box set wise, is Veronica Mars. [livejournal.com profile] romanticalgirl made it sound way interesting, so I had to get it. I've watched the pilot ... and so far I'm not into either of the love interests that fandom seems to be into. But I wasn't into Sydney/Sark right off the bat, either. Or Mal/Inara. So there's hope...

I have finally purchased some furniture. One day I will have Real Furniture, that's all decór oriented and everything matches with everything else. For now, I love the Targé. So here's my new...

Dining set
Coffee table
Office desk (Actually this one I'm buying off a coworker whose wife *is* doing the whole matching decór thing.)

And for the hell of it, I also bought a new office chair to go with my new desk. My favorite thing about the desk is that it's big -- it'll be able to hold all the computers/monitors I have. :))

Also -- I think I am going to get another dog. Talis is going to come back and live with me, probably in November, and I don't want him to be lonely. However I'd like to get a big dog this time, something like a golden retriever, because I don't want another yappy little thing. However, I want to get it when it's fairly young, so that Talis won't be intimidated by this huge dog right away, and they'll get used to each other before it gets bigger. Any particular breed you guys would suggest??

You can take this quiz and they'll recommend a dog for you. I think Golden Retrievers shed a lot though. Does Talis shed?

I love that coffee table!

Results of the quiz:

Curly-Coated Retriever
Goldendoodle
Labradoodle
Portuguese Water Dog
Schnoodle
Standard Poodle

Goldendoodle? Labradoodle?! Are they just making up names now? Okay, okay, I know, they're crossbreeds, but damn, it's just like the freakish shipping names. Malnara, Spuffy, Drinny, Sarkney. :))

And how about they suggest a kind of dog that I'll have a chance of getting without opening my own dog breeding center?!

(Even though Talis is long-haired, he doesn't shed. He requires brushing every day, though. I need a low-maintenance second dog.)

OMG!

:)) My first dog was a pekipoo--half pekingese, half poodle. He was a good dog.

There's this quiz from Yahoo and they rec actual breeds and not odd crossbreeds. It's sponsored by Purina so there are a suspicious amount of dog food questions though. :))

I would recommend a German Shepherd to you, if you're really serious about getting a big dog, as the best dog I ever owned was a GS/Husky mix. The downside to that breed is that they are predisposed to hip dysplasia, which can be a nightmare for all concerned right off the bat. Along that vein, I would also recommend the Siberian Husky whose main downside is that I believe they shed twice a year, completely. I bet you will still loose more hair than he does.

Though, when it comes to Talis.... I might have to go with the Labrador Retriever, because it may very well be the only dog that won't kill him for how he is.

I covet your desk.

Ahh, Veronica Mars is one of my favourite shows! When I started watching, I didn't really care about the shipping, it was more about the actual plot and the "whodunnit" mystery thing for me... I got into shipping as the season went on though, so maybe it will be the same for you :)

Your dining set looks lovely. Your office set looks almost like mine, except mine has a second shelf thing attached to one of the long rectangular parts of the table. The annoying thing about glass desks though is that if you have an optical mouse (the laser kind), it doesn't work properly because the laser just shoots through the glass so the cursor doesn't move. You'll need to buy a mousepad if you're planning to use a laser mouse.

As for breeds of dogs... Border Collies are really good but they have long hair and shed, so I don't know if that will be a problem. I own a Retriever/Rottweiler mix and he's great. He's not too big but he's slightly larger than medium. But you never know if you get a mix kind, what the size the dog will grow up to be.

If you're looking for a low maintenance dog, that can be tricky to find since you want a big one - big dogs need lots of exercise, especially golden retrievers (my neighbor's is so hyper and energtic... never gets tired of playing!)

Ooh, love the new desk!

Labs are great. I highly, highly recommend a black lab, even if it's a mix with something else.

We need to hang soon, chica.
