I went out to lunch today and started reading Ender's Game.

Wow.

Why has no one ever rec'ed this book to me before? I'm only four chapters in, and I'm riveted. It might even pull me away from WoW. I'm not even a huge sci-fi fan. He almost had me in tears in chapter two. Is there anyone as w00bie as Ender? I don't know if he's actually going to grow up through the course of this book, but part of me hopes not. He's so the new Harry Potter. Only, he came before Harry. And I don't think I ever adored Harry the way I'm already starting to adore Ender. (HP has always been more about the amazing world JKR created, for me.)

Is it wrong that I'm getting Ender/Valentine vibes?

Yeah, I just saw that somewhere, maybe Amazon. Damn, why does Hollywood have to get its mitts into everything? I hope they get a good cast and that the adaptation's decent. Don't say any more about the book's specifics, I don't want to be spoiled! Hee. :D

Last time I checked, the licensing options for the movie had expired and the movie rights had reverted back to OSC, who wrote a new script - currently he is trying to sell it to a movie studio.

If he hasn't sold it yet, though, it might take a while until he does.... for what I've heard, OSC is not exactly the nicest people to work with - and lately, with all the marriage-protection brouhaha you americans have stirren up, he is not exactly the kind of guy a Hollywood movie studio might want to associate with...

Hmm, now I don't know what's going on. I was at OSC's Web site yesterday and it sounded like the movie was on (but I think that was from March), and that the guy who wrote "Troy" was taking a whack at the screenplay. But such a good point re: Hollywood and OSC...
