sarea: (they should put that on the box!)

This is so terribly lame. Remember how I couldn't find the video card I wanted, and then settled for one a step down, and then when I ordered it, it ended up not being in stock?? Well, guess what? It happened again. What. the. spork. First of all, why do you list things you don't have in stock? Second, why don't you tell the person who ordered it within 24 hours, so they can look for an alternative instead of wasting a whole lot of time? :-l x 100000000. So finally, I have gone and ordered the original one I wanted, off of eBay. I didn't want to have to do that, because used computer equipment, I don't know -- who knows how much care they've taken with it, especially being such a pricey item? But buying it new was just far too expensive, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. Sigh.

Here's more bad news: Apparently, there's some kind of water intrusion going on with my condo building, and a vote to have a special assessment done was passed (I never go to meetings so I didn't vote, but I'm sure I would have also agreed it was the right thing to do). However, I've just found out how much it's going to cost. Wait for it ... $600/month, for the next 11 months. :O :O :O On top of my mortgage and condo dues, that is not going to be fun. I was planning all these trips for this year, but yeah, I think those are going to have to be postponed. Not to mention all the crazy Kate Spade buying and misc. things are going to have to stop. From now on, it's back to basics. It'll be like a game! How frugal can I be? I know I can do it; I used to do it out of necessity, when I made like peanuts on the Hill. I used to know restraint; now that it's a necessity again, it shouldn't be that hard, right? Right.

Jade is almost done with her part of IYOK7. I have written half a scene. Gawd I'm such a slacker.

Now, I want to give props to the Claim Jumper restaurant chain. They did everything T-Mobile (bunch of bastards) didn't do. The other day, I went to CJ to get some food to go, which is something I do ... not frequently, but often enough. Usually I place my order, go to Borders, get back, and the food's ready and waiting. That didn't happen this time. I was told my order would take 15 min., but I was back in 10, so I settled in their waiting area and started reading the book I had just purchased (I'm With Cupid, by Diane Stingley). I got really engrossed, though I looked up occasionally and wondered why it seemed to be taking longer than normal. Finally, I thought it had been way too long, and went up to check on my food. When I saw that it had been forty minutes after I initially placed the order, I was really pissed. Granted, I hadn't noticed the time passing by because I'd had something to occupy me, but it's not my job to mind my take-out order; it's theirs! And while there had been a steady, trickling business, there were definitely pockets of quiet with no customers.

When I got up to the counter, I could tell that the guy knew exactly who I was and why I was there. He called me by name, looking a bit sheepish, and lamely tried to explain that he'd been waiting for my chicken pomodori. Um, yeah, maybe if it had been 20 minutes ago, I would buy that. But this is a lunch item, something they probably can prepare in 5 minutes, to get people in and out of the restaurant as efficiently as possible. And even if I didn't think it was his fault (I think it was; I could see the rest of my food in containers spread out on the counter) for not paying attention, waiting 40 minutes for a freakin' sandwich is unacceptable. But I didn't say anything at the time. A lot people were waiting by now as he was rushing around trying to get all my food together, and I didn't want to cause a big scene, especially when it wasn't like I'd been hounding him for ages about it (though again, why should I have had to?).

You know, stuff like this happens all the time, and usually we just let it go. I just let it go. But I'm really sick and tired of getting and paying for bad service. So I vented. I found CJ's customer service address and wrote an email about my poor experience.

The next day, I received a *phone call* from one of their customer service people, who left a message on my machine. Wow, personal service? Nice. (When this happened with Marie Callendar's a few years ago, all they did was send me a comp certificate; they didn't acknowlege my particular complaint in any way.) I returned her phone call today, and she was super nice. Of course she gave me the whole spiel about how this was not acceptable, that they would strive to do better, that she'd spoken with the restaurant manager, etc. And at the end, she said that they would be crediting back my entire bill for that experience, and on top of that was sending me incentive to return to CJ so I could see their improvement for myself. All in all, exactly how a customer with a complaint ought to be treated.

Well done, Claim Jumper. Well done.

OMG $600? Jeez. That's harsh. But hey, you can look at this time as a period of personal growth. Get in touch with the Sarea that doesn't buy Kate Spade bags on a whim.

:-l on the video card. Lame.

OMG, your journal name! :))

Yeah, I don't like the Amelia that can't buy all the clothes she likes now since she has to pay "rent" and "insurance" and "car payments" and has to "eat".

And eeeeeeee, I got my copy of WoW today!

I find that hard to believe. Interns make more than that! <g>

In the entertainment industry interns make absolutely nothing, see. It's so hard to get into that people will work for free to get their foot in the door. When I first started getting paid for working there I made $6 an hour. It's all very very sad.

$600 for 11 months? Geez, that's totally unreasonable! It's crap like that that makes me think I"ll be in an apartment forever - can't afford a house, would have to put with condo association stuff like that. At their whim! At their mercy!
