"OhmyGOD! Did you SEE that UNICORN?!"
Aug. 8th, 2008 09:10 amWell at least the weather heard my complaining somewhat ... it's been in the 80s the last couple of days and I think it'll be more in the 70s today/the weekend, which is perfect.
I just had the best time reading this article by a King Arthur Flour blogger who wrote about the New York Times cookie recipe and some experimentation s/he did. (If you don't know what NY Times recipe/article I'm talking about, have you been living under a rock?! It seems everyone saw it/read it/shared it/baked cookies with it. It was in the Times's "Most Popular" section for over a week -- the recipe and article both. I've never seen the like. It really is a must read/bake. If you've been deprived, here's the article and here's the recipe.) I would venture to guess that 75% of people who read the article ran right out to make the cookies -- I know I did! And to be honest, they were not only the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever personally made, but were the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. Period.
Bad news is that my cholesterol is bad again. I guess I have to get back on my healthy diet. It's really not fair that I am within the "healthy" range for body weight for my height (okay, the upper end), but my cholesterol sucks ass so I have to diet myself down to the lower range in order to get my cholesterol healthy. I mean, I GUESS it's also a good thing, because it provides incentive to try and look my best/stay healthy, but it's also super annoying because I LOVE TO EAT, if you couldn't tell.
My brother is building me a computer and I am super excited. The impetus for getting a new computer is for WAR, which officially comes out Sept. 18, though I think the beta starts soon. It is a veritable supercomputer! I was going to buy off the HP site, but doing it this way will save about $500 because a) you always save a bit to buy the parts and build it yourself; b) I won't be getting all the extra stuff that their machines come with that I don't need, such as a TV Tuner, extra software, keyboard/mouse, etc. However, I will say that considering what you do get with them, their prices are actually fairly reasonable. This is essentially the computer I based my desired specs off of. If you don't know how to put together a computer (or don't know anyone who does) or don't have the inclination, it's a good option imo. ( See specs here. )
Just rewatched Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay. I just love those movies. They're hysterical and I just have great love for the two leads.
