You can never fully appreciate how large a lesbian population your area has until you have been to a Melissa Etheridge concert, I think.

The concert was great. I'm not extremely familiar w/ ME's music, but Jade made me listen to her latest album, "Lucky" (which I have enjoyed a lot), so at least I did recognize many of the songs. Melissa was really great -- there's nothing like seeing an artist live to be able to fully appreciate their talent -- but part of it was her kickass band. Her lead guitarist, OMG. Normally I'm not a gal who's into guitarists, I'm more of a drummer girl, but this guy was crazy amazing. His name's Philip Sayce, and on top of being fantastically talented ... from where we were sitting, he reminded me of Jason Lewis (aka Smith Jarrod from S&tC). *wipes drool*

We sat through most of the concert -- mostly because our section was full of staid people who didn't stand -- but during the encore we stood ... and was immediately told to sit down by the lameass people behind us. Hello, we were sitting down throughout the entire concert (which was fine, since most of ME's songs personally do not inspire me to rock out/dance), but can't you get your lazy ass up for the encore? Jeebus. We would have told them off (as I did during a No Doubt concert), except no one else in our particular section was standing, so it wasn't worth it. Still, there was fuming about lameass people who go to rock concerts and sit as if they're at the opera. ME didn't say anything about it, or else we might have felt more empowered ... like when I saw Green Day and Billie Joe was yelling at people, "What do you think this is, a fucking tea party??? Stand the hell up!" Gawd I love that Billie Joe.

Speaking of S&tC (up there), it was the coolest thing -- we saw Charlotte's dog!!! [livejournal.com profile] ropo got some great pictures of it. I'd never seen a dog like that (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) until the show, and then we randomly saw one and she looked just like Elizabeth Taylor! However, the ET we saw did not get gangbanged in the park. <g> Here's pic #1, and pic #2.

Tomorrow we're meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] leiliaxf to watch The Manchurian Candidate and Garden State, after our facials/massages.

Oh yes. One day I will rule ... I mean lead very democratically ... the Wizarding World. )

Eeeee!

Okay, so you know how Robbie called? This was how our conversation went:

Her: Can you come home for lunch?
Me: Yes.
Her: Oh, good. I went and got a surprise for you today.
Me: Is it grilled cheese?
Her: .... yes.

Two minutes away from home, Robbie calls me, demanding to know where I am, as she is slaving over a hot stove. I say that I will be there shortly, thinking that she certainly gets pissy when she's cooking.

When I get to my door, there's a note taped on it, saying that there's a surprise for me and directs me where to go. Fun! I open the door, and Robbie's there with her camera, saying that it's the start of my scavenger hunt. I go, "YAY!" because how fun is that? It must be something pretty good, if she's taking pictures.

So I go from place to place, wherever the next note leads me, and then I finally get directed to this little storage closet out on my deck. I open it, and out pops ... JADE!!!!!!!!!!!

:O!!!!!!!

I screamed, because, you know, person popping out of my storage closet, kind of scary.

And then I cried. I am not ashamed to admit it. Robbie has it all on her digital camera.

It was the BEST surprise. I was extremely surprised, which I think is the key ingredient in a good surprise. Robbie had picked Jade up at the airport this morning (I did wonder why the hell she was so diligent about getting up so early), and they'd been planning this for weeks and weeks, apparently. (Jade even booked appointments at the same beauty clinic for this Sat., and Robbie almost ruined it all by pointing out that someone with her area code had appointments at the same time as us -- she didn't know Jade was going to do that, and Jade had used a pseudonym and left her cell number! Luckily I wasn't overly concerned, and wasn't paying attention! Crazy.)

And now Jade can help us finish the puzzle we can all have t00by fun together for weeks!! *:(( in joy*

I really have to commend Robbie, who has the worst memory EVER (except for maybe Drew Barrymore), for keeping this a secret for SO LONG, and detaining me in doing some of the things I wanted to do, as she wanted to wait for Jade to get here so we could do them all together, without making me suspicious or wanting to hit her for not wanting to do anything. Truly, Robbie, bravo. *does the slow clap for you again*
