Lyrical guessing game!
May. 1st, 2004 08:09 pmI LOVE guessing games.
How well do you know your (or rather, my) music?
In the meme time... "On your current playlist, hit shuffle and pick the first twenty songs on the list (no matter how cheesy or embarrassing), and write down your favorite line of the song. Try to avoid putting the song title in the line. Then, have your friends comment and see if they know the songs. No cheating!"
So do you recognize these?
1. He said I bet you got a boyfriend but I don't care (Dixie Chicks, Travelin' Soldier)
2. So I let go, watching you turn your back like you always do (Linkin Park, Faint)
3. Hung my head in shame and refused to take blame for darkness I know I've let win (Jennifer Knapp, Martyrs & Thieves)
4. If I'd said I didn't like it then you'd know I lied (Santana/Alex Band, Why Don't You and I - I have now heard the Chad Kroeger version and it is all wrong)
5. I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal (Evanescence, Tourniquet)
6. One stop to the rhythm that divides you (Third Eye Blind, Semi-Charmed Life)
7. Not everybody knows that everybody could be living their last days (Good Charlotte, Movin' On)
8. From up here the city lights burn, like a thousand miles of fire (Story of the Year, Anthem of Our Dying Day)
9. We'll have Halloween on Christmas, and in the night we'll wish this never ends (blink-182, I Miss You)
10. My heart is yours to fill or burst, or break or bury, or wear as jewelry (Dashboard Confessional, Hands Down)
11. With no one to tell us that we should be going through what they went through (Hoobastank, Escape)
12. And I'm just dreaming, counting the ways to where you are (Five for Fighting, 100 Years)
13. Among the many muted faces, you try to find me in the spaces (Mandy Moore, In My Pocket)
14. Now there's a key where my wonderful mouth used to be (K's Choice, Virgin State of Mind)
15. So now maybe after all these years if you miss me have no fears (Simple Plan, I'd Do Anything - did you know Mark Hoppus does the backup vocals on this?)
16. Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse (REM, Nightswimming)
17. Across the sea, a pale moon rises (Annie Lennox, Into the West)
18. If I could buy my reasoning, I'd pay to lose (No Doubt, It's My Life)
19. If you live with me, I'll die for you, and this compromise (Green Day, Church on Sunday)
20. We haven't fucked yet, but my head's spinning (Liz Phair, Why Can't I?)
Edit: I have added the answers if you'd like to know what they are. But in case other people want to continue playing, I have made them the background color (assuming you haven't personalized your LJ friends' comments pages), so to know what a particular song is, just highlight the area after the lyric.
Trivia: Most recognized songs are #6 and #12. Songs no one has successfully guessed yet are #3, #8, #11, #15, and #16.
