Seven Minutes in Heaven
Apr. 25th, 2004 02:30 am1) My friend Julie is always trying to set me up with someone, no matter how many times I ask her not to. Today she was all, "I want to introduce you to Michael. Would you be interested in a white boy, who's tall, thin, kind of pale-skinned, and really sweet?" I was like, you had me until that last thing.
2) Do you ship Mary/Colin or Mary/Dickon from The Secret Garden? I have always held a secret torch for Mary/Colin, because that was so where the sparks were. I don't care that they're cousins. In fact if they were brother/sister it might be the first serious incest ship I'd ship. <g> Am happy because [due to Jade] have discovered two versions of the movie/sequel to the movie where Mary and Colin end up together. Filmmakers are guilty incest proponents like me.
3) Have been seeing trailers for The Notebook, and I must say that I am all squeey over the fact that blond-ish Ryan Gosling is playing the male lead, and he's all head over heels for Rachel McAdams, who's a redhead in the movie. Squeeeeee!! I know it's got a pretty typical romantic-movie premise, but where I usually cringe at something so obvious, this one actually looks well done. That or it's just the trailers.
4) My tax refund has been credited to my account, so everything went through okay after all. Yay!
5) The soundtrack to 50 First Dates is all reggae-y 80s music and is so good.
6) Did not see Eternal Sunshine because Julie was lame and got the theater wrong. Instead we went to Target, which is not the same at all but a necessity. She and her roommate convinced me to overcome my Punkass Bitch syndrome and actually get out of the house to meet people. Thus I found myself at a comedy club called Giggles, and saw the funniest. damn. comedian. I have seen in quite awhile. His name's Mike Birbiglia, and seriously -- if he ever comes to your town (tonight was his last night here), GO SEE HIM.
7) Yesterday, saw Ella Enchanted and 13 Going on 30. Hated the first, loooooved the second.

I can't wait to have all my GP shipper desires made real by filmmakers who got paid and everything. It's like filmed fanfic!

I shun you both because now I STILL cannot talk to you about this movie. Honestly. HONESTLY.
Really, drunk!Sarea is the best one. How was your grilled cheese? It was best you didn't use a knife, wasn't it?

Date: 2004-04-25 09:45 am (UTC)Yes, but filmed fanfic isn't always good. Look at the Matrix sequels.
The grilled cheese was goooooooood. I washed it down with my macaroni and cheese. I used a knife to cut the sandwich in half, but I appear to still have all my fingers.
And I got a French manicure and a really really really really cute bra.

I am now hungry after hearing about your cheesy dinner and I must have a snack. Damn you. Damn you and your cute bra buying French manicured hands.

Date: 2004-04-25 10:31 am (UTC)I've been wanting to see it since I first laid eyes on the trailer. I even got to go on the Jay Leno show when Jennifer Garner guest starred! (which was AWESOME, by the way)
So yeah, am glad to hear that it was as lovable as I expected it to be. *g* That is all.

Date: 2004-04-25 06:10 pm (UTC)I have to admit that I know someone who didn't love it as much as me, but we saw it in two different theaters and both times the audience started clapping at the end. So yeah, I'd trust me more. :D

Me too! It WAS rather enjoyable. After watching it, I was bummed that that was it. I wished there'd been more. :/

*snerk* I'll take your word for it. Wheeee! Sounds good! What was your impression of Mark Ruffalo in this?? Just something I wondered about.

Date: 2004-04-26 06:43 am (UTC)Then again, I've liked him in what I've seen him in. I think he's the stoned/monotone uncle from Grounded for Life, right? Of the few eps I've seen of that show, I always liked his character the most, before I knew who he was. Today I saw him in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind -- I liked him fine in it, but not as much as in the other two roles.

Date: 2004-04-25 06:13 pm (UTC)You should see 13Go30! It's really fun ... not the best film ever made, but I don't think anyone expects that. Hope you can find time before the move!

Date: 2004-04-25 05:11 pm (UTC)Heh, Ryan Gosling.

Date: 2004-04-25 06:06 pm (UTC)I've never thought of Ryan Gosling as leading man material (I can only picture him in my head the way he was in Remember the Titans), but Nicholas Sparks-adapted movies seem to do that (like Shane West in A Walk to Remember).

Date: 2004-04-25 06:08 pm (UTC)Ryan Gosling is hot, yo. Shane West, not so much.

Date: 2004-04-25 06:18 pm (UTC)I would not put him that much further up on the hotness scale from Alex Band.

Date: 2004-04-25 06:17 pm (UTC)Really, re: Ryan? I've only seen him in one movie, and while he was cute-ish, he wasn't particularly attractive or anything. Plus I really can't judge his acting, since the role was pretty small.

Date: 2004-04-25 08:40 pm (UTC)2) Mary/Dickon alll the way. I didn't care much for Colin, he often pissed me off. And in my culture (even tho i think it's icky) people do marry their cousins, so it isn't even that that bothers me as much. I just wanted to hit Colin sometimes. Dickon is soo nice and cute
3) The Notebook...isn't that a Nicholas Sparks book? I've never read anything by him. I do love Ryan Gosling tho. He was on some show I watched sometimes when I was younger...plus I have a thing for blondes ;)
4) At this point, I have no idea how the tax stuff works...my dad handles it all...I'm a little scared for the future :o
5) I LOVE 80's music..but i like most of the originals better than the covers...I wasn't too crazy about that movie...Normally, I love Adam Sandler...It was ok...just, I think I overanalyzed it a bit :D
6) Am DYING to see that. I love Jim Carrey and I hear that it is an amazing movie
7) Awww, I liked Ella Enchanter :) I thought it was cute...well except that last song/dance sequence...that was stupid..and yes, there is some randomosity to it, but I still liked it. Haven't seen 13 going on 30, but do want to as it looks quite cute. I do have to admit, however, that I am not too big of a Jennifer Garner fan.
Dude, we need to chat it up AIM style sometime
Hope everything else is well
*MMMWAH*

Date: 2004-04-26 06:51 am (UTC)3) Yeah, I thought I said something about Nicholas Sparks, but I guess it was just in comments to someone else. It's the 3rd (that I know of) film that's been adapted from a NS novel, but I haven't read any of them, either.
5) I normally don't really like Adam Sandler, but loved 50 First Dates. We seem to have opposite tastes in just about everything. <g>
7) I love Jennifer Garner, so that might have helped me enjoy the movie. No guarantees on enjoyability if you go into it not liking her. =) I thought all of EE was pretty stupid, not just the last song/dance sequence, though it had a couple of minor moments that I liked. Honestly, if I hadn't planned to watch 13 Going on 30 right after, I probably would have walked out. However, I've long ago accepted that my taste isn't most people's taste. For instance, I usually despise romantic comedies (another reason why it's surprising that I liked 50 First Dates), and most people (girls, at least) love those.
