I had a bunch of recs on different things that I wanted to share, and it would be v. cool if other people were to share their recs, too. I guess that would make it a meme -- only useful. :D

Movie: Project Greenlight's Stolen Summer - I think PG was the project that some exec was v. skeptical about, wondering who would want to watch something like this. Matt Damon's response: "People with hearts!" Hahaha. Anyway, this is the movie that won the first PG contest. Summary: During summer vacation 1976, second-grader and Catholic Pete O'Malley learns from his fireman father that "Jews can't get into Heaven," and decides to earn his heavenly passage by attempting to convert the young son of a local rabbi. Kevin Pollak rocks my world.

Book: We're reading Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married at [livejournal.com profile] literocracy, and I'm enjoying it v. much so far. It helps that I'm in love w/ Lucy's friend Daniel already, and hope those crazy kids are gonna make it. I've also got to recommend my favorite book of all time, Ready, Okay! by Adam Cadre, which we won't be able to read at [livejournal.com profile] literocracy because it's a hardcover. I don't think it's in print anymore, but you should be able to find a used copy for a reasonable amount.

Fic: [livejournal.com profile] _lore has written an number of great drabbles here. My favorite is, of course, the G/D one. I love how she can paint such a complete picture in so few words -- and that goes for the other ones as well. The Snape drabble is lovely, and touches on one of my guilty pleasures. I also don't typically read AtS fic, but Manus by Kita is excellent. It reminds me that fanfic can be an art form.

TV Show: The show that's got me all atwitter is Alias. It's such an excellent program. I'd be happy to catch anyone up who doesn't already watch it but is interested.

Music: If you can find it, listen to Dashboard Confessional's song "Hands Down." It's from their album A Mark · A Mission · A Brand · A Scar.

Candy: Apple Sours Altoids. They are the perfect things to appease anyone's oral fixation. If it wasn't for [livejournal.com profile] calliope14, I wouldn't even have known that they make apple, so I don't know whether to thank her or complain.

One thing to lift your spirits: I highly recommend getting a professional manicure, if you don't have a complex about such things or are allergic to the stuff they use. It's such a small indulgence when you think about it. You could probably get one for $12-15. And yet the sight of your pretty hands will cheer you up and make you feel more put together for days afterward. It doesn't matter how I'm dressed or what I look like; if my nails look good I feel pretty damn good.

And finally, my dear [livejournal.com profile] akscully will be gone for three whole days! I don't know what I'll do! I suppose I'll simply be forced to draw more stick-figure smut. It's like a sickness.

Edit: IT'S NOT A THIRD ARM. It's part of the bedsheets! Draco's "third arm" cannot be seen. I shun you all.

It's not an arm, it's the bedsheet!! His third arm is not pictured.

It sure looks like an arm to me.

This is why I stay away from modern art, I just don't get it >_

Yeah it looks like a third arm to me too.

I think what Sarea is trying to convey here is that Draco is so hot, a wedding night with him is like a wedding night with a man with three arms: freaky, but surprisingly good.

While that is undoubtedly true, I must remain adamant that it is NOT A THIRD ARM. Image

It's okay Sarea. Sometimes even the artist doesn't understand all of the subtext she puts into her work. Perhaps you weren't thinking "I gotta put a third arm here", but somewhere in your subconscious you were aware that the third arm works on multiple levels.

(I'm having a hard time keeping a straight face here—can you tell?)

Okay, see, the arrow that says "bedsheet" is actually pointing toward Draco's pillow. The top of the bedsheet is right below the pillow, and #1 is where the bottom of the sheet is (you know, if you were to fold it down).

#2 and #3 are his actual arms.

Mark my words, you'll see this in the Louvre one day.
