JKR must have known that I wasn't feeling well, because this just about makes me feel almost human again. The JOY!

Of course I'm talking about this in particular:

Chibimono: Do you have any future plans in particular for Draco Malfoy?

JKR: I've got plans for all my characters. Actually, this is a really good place to answer a question about Draco and Hermione, which a certain Ms. Radcliffe is desperate to have answered. Will they end up together in book six/seven? NO! The trouble is, of course, that girls fancy Tom Felton, but Draco is NOT Tom Felton! (My daughter likes TF very much too, because he taught her how to use a diablo)

I think I'm pretty open-minded, and tolerant of most ships, even if I don't understand some of them. To each his own, variety is the spice of life, and all that. But there is one ship in all the land that makes every fiber of my being cringe, and that is D/Hr. So for JKR to utterly denounce it -- and completely out of context, no less (she wasn't even asked about D/Hr! Seems she wanted to take the least opportunity to kill it) -- makes me want to do Numfar's Dance of Joy. What a nice treat for those of us (I think there's 12? <--- I was wrong, there's 17 of us! Whooooo) who have "hating Draco/Hermione" in our interests. That has well and truly been paid off.

I really like the idea that "Ginny" is not short for anything. That her name is simply Ginny. However, now I hope for her sake, with a middle name like Molly, that she does actually have a longer first name. Ginny Molly? Good God.

And how do these people find out where JKR is going to be and get to ask her questions????? For once, I'd like to see a chat with her that doesn't include something like If Hagrid was a real person and came to your house, what would you cook him for dinner? and instead asked her about, I don't know, the direction of Draco's character, or, once and for all, what Ginny's full name is.

And WTF is a diablo?

I think I'd be an ash tree, a fig tree, or a walnut tree, according to this (http://www.fungrams.com/network/tree2.shtml).

I get the feeling that the Weasley's like nicknames. Ginny is a common nickname for Virginia (I have a cousin and a next door neighbor both named Virginia, though go by Ginny). So I think that is probably her full name. Virginia Molly Weasley.

Oh, and the number D/Hr haters is up to 13, add me to your number! I cannot stand it. It is one of those ships that just makes me gag at the thought.

Yay for another in our ranks! ; ) I know the assumption is that "Ginny" is short for "Virginia," but I'm not actually that fond of the convention, so am waiting for JKR to confirm it. I do like to think that her name is simply "Ginny" ... well, I did before learning her middle name. <g&glt;

Thanks for the link! That clears things up. I studied in England one summer and I can't say I ever ran across one of these during that time ... but maybe that was too long ago.

Now the question is, why can't TF teach me how to use one? :D

Which vampire question? Yeah, you can tell I was really paying attention aside from all the Draco or Ginny stuff. I plan on reading it again when my brain's working better.

I would have thought the same re: Diablo, except she says "use a" which does not at all sound like a video game. However, I think halliemarie has cleared it up w/ a link she provides.

OH OH OH, while I was in England I was at this campsite, and the guys in the site next to us enjoyed playing around with their diabolo all the time. Oh. My. Goodness. They all surpassed TF on the hotness scale, and their accents were dead sexy... *swoons* If only I could have captured one of them, stuffed him in my suitcase, and taken him home with me.
