mishmash of things that are now mine

Because these are all relatively small things, for this next edition of the shopping confessional I'm just going to combine a bunch of things into a mishmash of "stuff."
A couple of months ago, I purchased a ton of new nail polishes. I'd been watching YouTube videos on how to do cool effects, so was inspired. Of course, the moment they all started arriving, one of my nails broke and I had to cut them all off. /sigh BUT! When they're long again I'll start putting those polishes into action and share the results with you guys. :D Anyway, the reason this belongs on the shopping confessional list is because I bought all high-end nail polish brands like Zoya and O.P.I., so they did not come cheap. Ugh, when did nail polish get so ridiculously expensive? I mean some of them were $15/bottle!
Before I get into some of my favorite colors, I want to recommend this awesome, awesome, AWESOME (it cannot be said enough) top coat. Everyone who does nail art videos on YouTube uses it, and there's a good reason for that. It will change your life. Some top coats claim to be fast drying, but for COMPLETELY DRY nails, it usually takes overnight to fully set. Not the case with Seche Vite. Your nails are COMPLETELY DRY in minutes. MINUTES. It is a miracle product, as far as I'm concerned.
jade_okelani used to refrain from painting her nails, because after so much work and waiting it would chip immediately. Well, Seche Vite may not keep your nails from chipping, but given how easily it enables you to apply nail polish now, there's a little bit of a "who cares?" factor. She tried it and agrees with me... it's ah-may-zing.
It looks like this:

Okay so here are some of the colors I'm most excited about:
Zoya - Payton:

O.P.I. - Pewter:

Essie - Stroke of Brilliance:

Zoya - Portia:

I also became intrigued by the graphic novel Brody's Ghost, written and illustrated by Mark Crilley, so I bought all five volumes instead of trying out the first volume to see if I even liked it. And I discovered Mark Crilley through a YouTube video he did showing people how to draw realistic eyes. (Very cool stuff.)
Okay, and I'm suuuuuuuuuuper into my new soap dispensers. :D I really like using foamy soap for some reason, so I got these on Amazon and I highly rec. I fill them with Dr. Bronner's 18-in-1 hemp peppermint pure castile soap. Before they arrived, I did all this research on the dilution ratio I should use for the soap vs water, specifically for Dr. Bronner's, and it turns out that the little container at the bottom of the dispenser, which you can unscrew, has helpful lines marking where you fill the soap up to, where you fill the water up to, and leaving the rest air. Sooooo easy and I love the creamy foam it dispenses. I got both orange and green ones, but I like the orange better:

Okay, these next two items probably don't count as part of the shopping binge, because I would have gotten them anyway, but I'm excited about them so am including anyway.
One is the final book in the Mortal Instruments series, City of Heavenly Fire (and I'm really looking forward to the follow-up series).
The next is The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones, which is a big coffee table book full of facts and figures about ASoIaF. That in itself would just be kind of cool, but what I'm really looking forward to are the details about the world that have not been shared or confirmed yet in the books themselves. I am so going to be poring over this thing! :D
