- From the first frame I somehow knew this was coming, that Mike's death was going to be the OMG moment at the end of this episode.

- This episode, more than any in recent memory, really made me feel hopeless. I mean, obviously, this is not a show that's intended to make you feel hopeful, but there was an excitement, a drive to it, that kept me tuned in week after week. If all the episodes were like this one, I'd never watch the show. Too depressing.

- I'm not even Mike's biggest fan. He's definitely had his moments, and I know a lot of people love him, but I always thought he was as much an asshole as Walt, just in a different way. I disliked them both on that level.

- I'm sorry, but Mike's pride was just as much his downfall as Walt's was/is his. If he could have brought himself to give even a LITTLE to Walt, said a goddamn 'thank you,' he'd still be alive. Not that I'm taking Walt's side; as ever, he's an idiot who always lets his emotions and pride get in the way of rational thinking, but I thought Mike was asking for it when he continued to be a dick just because he could be, especially with someone as volatile as Walt, which Mike KNEW going in. Sure, he didn't NEED to kowtow to any of Walt's pissant little tantrums, but that's why I say Mike's downfall was also his pride, the same as Walter. If he could have played the game better, smiled to Walt's face while doing what he wanted, especially after Walt was the one to warn him, was the one to bring him his bag (and Mike should've known not to trust Walt at that point, to be extra cautious, KNOWING what was in his bag and what Walt's capable of).

- I guess I'm most depressed by the fact that the inevitable has happened, and the Walt/Jesse relationship is now well and truly irreparable. Not only did they have that falling out/argument -- and I hate to say it, but Walt was right when he denied Jesse the $5 million; if Jesse feels that strongly about all the wrongs they've done, he should've walked away a long time ago without it -- but now Walt has killed someone Jesse really liked/respected, who liked/respected him in return. After promising that no more people would die because of them. Though you could also say that that 'guarantee' was made with the assumption that Jesse would continue in the business.

- I suppose Walt could try and hide the fact that he killed Mike, as he's hidden so many things from Jesse over the years. He could just let everyone assume that Mike went away as planned -- assuming he was somehow able to successfully hide the murder. If the murder's revealed and the DEA gets involved, I think Walt would have a tough time convincing Jesse that he wasn't the one who killed Mike.

- I am so done with Skyler's judgmental looks at Jesse. STFU Skyler, if you're so morally upstanding GO TO THE FUCKING POLICE AND CONFESS ALL OF IT, INCLUDING THE FACT THAT YOU PUT A HIT OUT ON TED BENECKE. Not that it matters now; Jesse and Skyler will have few, if any, scenes together at this point, unless they band together against Walt. But honestly? I don't really want to watch a show about everyone Walt ever cared about turning against him, because that's pretty much where we are now, and I'm depressed about it. I didn't realize this before, but I guess I want the show to ultimately be about redemption. :/ I suspect I will be very disappointed.

- Interestingly, we do find out that apparently Jesse does know that Skyler's in on the whole thing. A review I read from last week's episode asked the question, considering Jesse was talking about the car wash as if it were a legit business, if Jesse knew that Skyler knew everything at this point. I don't think we ever saw Walt tell him in so many words, so it was unclear whether he still thought Walt was hiding it from his family or what. The dinner scene at the Whites' didn't provide any clarity, but this episode answered the question once and for all. Don't know when Jesse learned, but certainly by the events of this ep, he knew she knew.

- I know that I should be rooting for Hank. After all, he's right. And I know he's right. And it's not like I'm rooting for Walt. But. Watching him disobey direct orders again and again, especially after getting promoted, I'm just like, WTF are you doing, dude?? LET IT GO.

- There's also speculation about when -- not if, when -- we'll see Jesse call Walt by his first name instead of "Mr. White." It appears that we are getting closer and closer. I've never wanted this day to come, because as a shipper of their father-son relationship I've always seen it as the ultimate sign of its deterioration. :/ But I think this Mike thing might be the catalyst that will see Jesse calling Walt 'Walter.' Sigh. Maybe I'm on crack that I ever felt so strongly about this relationship, that they were ever going to take it to that place. But I sincerely thought that one day they'd find in each other what their natural families couldn't give them.

- One more. It's gonna be a doozy. I have no idea what's coming. I think partly why this episode fell flat for me was because everything that happened seemed inevitable. The reviews I read are full of good guessers -- someone said they suspected that Walt's plan was going to be that he was going to cook for Declan, which made perfect sense to me, so I wasn't surprised when that was, in fact, his plan. But for next week, I have ZERO clue what might happen, and I doubt anyone else could either. I hope they manage to surprise us, in typical Breaking Bad fashion. :D

Edit:

- Teaching Todd how to cook. I know Walt wants to replace Jesse, but Todd is not Jesse. Jesse has an innate decency that Todd doesn't have; Todd can't be trusted. I'm surprised that Walt wouldn't be more cautious here about teaching someone he barely knows how to cook his meth. Hasn't being in this trade taught him anything? I mean, look at what happened with Gale! Anyone who is involved in the meth business is out for money and/or power. Jesse is a complete anomaly. Once Todd knows how to do the cook correctly, he'll only stay loyal as long as he doesn't find something more profitable.
