At the moment I'm waiting for my espresso beans to defrost (the packaging says to use up the contents within a week of opening ... are they KIDDING? No one needs to be that wired), so I figure now's as good a time as any to make a quick update.

Chester Bennington isn't really all that hot, objectively speaking. But on stage, I swear to God he is the sexiest man alive.

- I didn't know this, but one of the LA shows last week was canceled due to Chester being sick!!! And there was danger of that happening this time, too. Chester was really conservative w/ his voice, and had the crowd sing a lot of the parts. Which was fine (it's insane how every single person around me was singing every single word to every song so that it sounded like a chorus ... I usually NEVER hear other people, and even the people I was with remarked on that later), but I really, really want to see them again when he's in top form. It's just not the same. Also, he's usually the one who works the crowd in between songs, but this time it was Mike ... who I also enjoy. <g>

- Am glad to report that LP fans seem to run in their 20s, not their teens. And there are more men than women, but that is A Good Thing. Unlike, say, 'Nsync. And some of these guys are pretty good looking. I was pleasantly surprised.

- Everyone was really cool. Polite, having fun, crazy, etc., but not lameass. Unlike, say, No Doubt fans. Both ND concerts I've been to, I had bad other-fan experiences. There was a couple in front of us who were tallish, and the guy offered to switch places w/ the girl to help unblock our view. How nice was that?

- There were also some teenagers there w/ their parents. What cool parents. As if my parents would have gone w/ me to a LP concert. Dropped me off @ the door, maybe.

- Story of the Year and Hoobastank were excellent. Too bad they had crazy short sets. POD was also there, but we took the opportunity during their set to go get merchandise.

- Didn't get any merchandise, because the one shirt I was looking at (a LP baby tee) wasn't available in a medium, only extra large, by the time I got there. Oh well, saved $30.

- Ended up eating @ the venue (chicken strips + Coke = $10) because the traffic was so awful that it was nearly time for the concert to start when we got there. And we're at this age now where we don't want to get Subway or fast food or whatever, we want to actually sit in a restaurant. Of course, being that we ended up eating fast food-type food anyway, I'd rather have had non-venue fast food.

- The company could have been better. Went w/ D., who is always cool, but also this guy from her work, Ty. He was generally fine, but he was also 24, egotistical, self-involved, and there's something about the way he was w/ those things that totally turned me off.

- No one threw anything on stage, which was a total shocker. I've never understood that phenomenon in the first place -- why would you throw things (water bottles, shoes, etc.) at the performer you're there to see??? -- but I think this is the first time it's never happened, in my experience.

- The playlist:

Papercut
One Step Closer (finale - they had another singer come out and do "shut up" because there's no WAY Chester could have done it in his condition)
With You
Points of Authority
Crawling
Runaway
In the End
Pushing Me Away (concert version, which I <3)
My December
It's Going Down
Don't Stay
Somewhere I Belong
Lying from You
Faint
Breaking the Habit (acoustic opening, so awesome)
From the Inside
Nobody's Listening
Numb

I think that's it.

Re: AtS cancellation. Am extremely pissy and sad, but in a way, since they've gotten rid of Cordy and if this season isn't really going anywhere (as it didn't seem to be, but maybe they were on the cusp of something), then fine, maybe it's time to BUT NO HOW CAN IT BE CANCELED? WHY????? WHY??????? No matter what, it's still one of the best shows on TV. I hate the WB. Blah blah, yes they've given them plenty of notice, but I agree w/ Jade: I somehow doubt anything wonderful's going to come out of that. Of course, I'm also in the midst of S3 and I don't think I appreciated how well done it was when it first aired. And the C/A sweetness/UST reminds me of why I got into that ship in the first place. It was only when they made it canon that it went bad. Much like B/S, in fact.

Oh, forgot to mention -- last weekend I made [livejournal.com profile] angylinni's chicken parmesan and [livejournal.com profile] rainpuddle13's pot roast. Both were great -- thanks gals!
