It was pouring snow this morning. What? It's officially spring next week! Every time I dare to think that Seattle weather could not suck more, it proves me wrong. -.- Granted our spring doesn't usually come until June/July (summer is 2 days in August), but it's never snowed this much before.

Going to see Hunger Games with K and [personal profile] adelagia on Thursday! Then afterward we are going to Boiling Point for my favorite stinky tofu hotpot. It will be bliss. The only way it could be better would be if it were Friday instead of Thursday, so that I wouldn't have work hanging over my head for the next day, but oh well.

Now that I have this wonderful smoker I keep dreaming of hosting an indoor barbecue party. Smoked ribs, barbecue chicken, Zuni Cafe mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, corn on the cob, watermelon, mmmmmmmmmm. This is a bit of a pipe dream though because a) the house is currently a mess, so entertaining is out of the question; b) the smoker isn't really all that big, so making enough food for even 6 people would be nigh impossible.

I don't know when it aired, but I just watched ep 12 of The Walking Dead S2.

I was shocked that they killed Shane. I thought they were going to milk that triangle forever, honestly. Also because Shane and Rick were such good foils for each other. Both totally wrong and totally right, in their own ways. Of course, the problem with Shane was that he became irredeemably evil. Falling in love with Lori I can understand; thinking he was better for Lori and Carl I can understand; but betraying his brother/best friend to the point where he was going to actually murder him to have Lori and Carl, no. Initially I was irritated with Rick for once again being a lame pussy and telling Shane that he hadn't done anything, that he could still come back from it -- and I was like, what? He admitted to killing that other guy and that he's planning to kill you for Lori and Carl, and you think he can come back from that?! It was totally in line with Rick's lame character so far, so it was believable, which made it all the better/shocking when he actually killed Shane. I'm not sorry, though. While I didn't totally disagree with his ideas, his methods left a lot to be desired, and I really couldn't stand his stalker tendencies with Lori/Carl, and also his being a shitty friend.

Carl leveling his gun at Rick was such fake drama. It was so obvious he was going to kill zombie!Shane. He couldn't have alerted Rick to it? And he's such a great shot that he fucking shot Shane in the center of the forehead, with Rick in between them? WhatEVER. Given the world they live in, I wasn't entirely opposed to Rick giving Carl a gun, though if you ask me it's still inappropriate given how young he is and that he's no expert marksman (or shouldn't be, anyway), but without even giving warnings about using the safety, that it's not a toy, etc.??? That was kind of unreal/bad parenting, imho. I've been reading TV w/o Pity and other reviews, and I'm glad that other people seem to think Carl is as much of an annoying dumbass as I do. Also, the gun itself -- it's Daryl's. You think he's not going to notice that? If you want to give the kid a gun, why don't you return Daryl's and then give Carl another one? Minor thing but honestly.

OK, I really don't get zombiefication. I thought you had to be bitten or whatever to become a zombie, but apparently not. The guy whose neck Shane snapped came back as a zombie, and so did Shane, yet neither of them died as a result of a zombie attack. There was also the zombie they'd killed earlier, where they noted that it had no bites, and concluded that exposure to blood must've done it. I assume that meant they ingested zombie blood somehow (which was why I talked before about them killing zombies with no thought to all the blood flying everywhere). But I also thought, given what we've been shown, that when that happens, or when you're bitten (so zombie saliva infects also), you go through some kind of fever and then die and wake up as a zombie. So if Shane/prisoner kid were exposed to zombie germs and that's why they came back as zombies, and that's true for everyone, then shouldn't they all be going through that zombie fever/death? Yeah so it makes no sense to me, especially because it all seems to make sense to the characters/they're not really questioning it. Rick seemed to be waiting for Shane to resurrect. So what is the deal with how you get turned into a zombie or not? Do people not die regularly anymore?

I was totally fangirling Daryl and Glenn, my two fave characters, pairing up to hunt for the "escaped" prisoner. They were so good together! Total opposites personality wise, which is what makes it fun. Teehee:

I didn't really talk about episodes 8-11, but I'll just say that I was sorry to see Dale go, and Andrea/Lori is totally the Rick/Shane foil all over again, though in that case I mostly side with Andrea. Lori really is too much like a queen bee, especially now that she's pregnant. I mean, Hershel is even giving up his bedroom for the Grimes family, in his own house! Bleh.

The most significant thing about Shane's death is that the people in the opening credits aren't safe. You kind of think that all the expendenable characters are the guest stars, because they're the only ones who've died so far. But with Shane's death it means they could all die any time... which totally makes me worry for Glenn and Daryl. Honestly if Daryl died I don't know that I'd keep watching, that would be too much of a blow because I don't care enough about anyone else to see what happens to them.

I like the actress who plays Glenn's love interest a lot more on this show than I did on The Vampire Diaries. Except I remember her VD name, Rose, whereas I can't remember her WD name, lol.

We are down to the Elite 8 in Fandom March Madness! Basically we need to narrow down to the ultimate winner of each of the four categories. On the ballot:

COMEDY: Abed Nadir (Community) vs Leslie Knope (Parks & Recreation) **This is the one I'm most torn about!

TEEN: Hermione Granger (Harry Potter) vs Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games)

SCI-FI: Sansa Stark (Game of Thrones) vs Donna Noble (Doctor Who) **The most hotly contested competition. I'm surprised but pleased that Sansa's gotten this far. The thing is though that I don't think a lot of GoT TV show-only viewers understand why anyone would possibly like Sansa this much. I can only imagine that those voting for her know her full story (as told so far) from the books.

DRAMA: John Watson (Sherlock) vs Mary Crawley (Downton Abbey) **I just do NOT understand the Mary love. I liked her a lot more in S2, but still. John is so awesome.
