City Huntering

Right now I am marathoning City Hunter. It is just as good as I hoped. :D I love when that happens! I'm on episode 12 or 13. I Frapped and uploaded this fight sequence from one of the early episodes to YouTube. Such a good role for Lee Min Ho. <333
Context: Using undercover work, Yun Seong (LMH's character) has just exposed a scumbag politician admitting to the crimes the latter has committed. YS's been captured by said scumbag politician's thugs... but not for long. Long live the spoon. ;)
- I really, really wish there were more scenes like that and less of all the romance stuff. I mean, I don't hate the romance or anything, but it drags sometimes and this is the stuff I really watch the show for, and it's the show's premise! You can do the romance stuff in any drama; this show is set up for this kind of action!
- I generally like Kim Na Na (the actress is much more fitting for LMH than the actress who played Jan Di, who was ugly imho), but she can be so annoying, because she's always saying and doing things without having a clue about what's really going on. And obviously that's not her fault, but at the same time, well,
adelagia put it best: "KIM NANA YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW, JUST SHUT UP AND LET HIM GET ON WITH HIS HOTNESS." :)))))))))))))) When T.'s right, she's right.
- But really, a Presidential bodyguard? OK, they've done their best to develop how this might work, so maybe, I'll give it to them. But when she bursts into the warehouse and takes down all those guys then gets shot... YEAH RIGHT. Come on, Yun Seong can do it because he's trained all his life for it. She's just a level 4 Judo bodyguard. I'm sure she can handle herself better than most people could, but that was just a step too far. It would've been better had Yun Seong, despite being drugged, was able to take out all those guys. Because I would believe that he IS that badass. I know they just want to make Na Na be useful instead of the victim all the time -- which, good on them -- but that wasn't the right way to go about it.
- The hardest part to get through on this show is how everyone around Yun Seong is soooooo oblivious to his badassery. And he has to let him think he's just some useless playboy, or his cover's blown, but it is so hard to watch him get beaten up by some punk when he could take care of it likethat.
- However, I'm thankfully far enough now that both Kim Na Na and Kim Yeong Ju have figured out Yun Seong's secret identity. Not that it should've been that hard, particularly for Kim Na Na, given how much time she spends with him. I mean, that time she shot him, she should've recognized him from the back! It was so obviously LMH! And his 'mask' was so like when Clark Kent takes off his glasses and turns into Superman. Though no one is quite as stupid as Lois Lane when it comes to that.
- What happened to Kim Na Na's parents is really terrible. But I am so sick and tired of all the drama/flashbacks around it.
- I must say I also lost a lot of respect for Adorable Prosecutor Yeong Ju when we found out that he had overheard his father blackmailing Bae Man Doek. So he knew his father had destroyed lives, one young girl's life, in particular, and he did nothing about it. Sure, he became estranged from his father after that, and has no qualms about going after other corrupt politicians, but the fact remains that he shielded his father, and shields him to this day. And he obviously feels bad/guilty, since he's been, in his own way, looking out for Kim Na Na and sending her letters/postcards from "Long Legs Ahjusshi," but that kind of makes it even worse. He knows the truth about what happened, and instead of exposing it and bringing justice to Kim Na Na and her parents, he just sends lame letters? Like that helps when she's in dire financial need? Which she would not be in, assuming South Korea works like the U.S. -- she would have gotten plenty of insurance money had her parents not been found to be at fault in the accident.
- I also have no idea if they're trying to do a triangle between Yun Seong/Kim Na Na/Yeong Ju or what. At first it seemed like it, because of Yeong Ju's behavior toward her, but now that the truth has been revealed, was it just from his guilt over what happened with his father? Because it also seems that he hasn't really gotten over his ex-wife. Plus he called himself "ahjusshi" in his letters, which is like an uncle-figure and that would be kind of creepy. Even though Na Na I assume is supposed to be 27/28, and Yeong Ju doesn't really look much older.
- Speaking of Sae Hee, I really like her. I mean, the actress is OK, but I like her character. It's a bit far fetched how her veterinary practice has now been turned into an ER for gunshot victims, but whatever. Plus she figured out Yun Seong's identity early on and helped him, rather than hindered him. She just seems like a cool person and doesn't do annoying things. I do want her to get back together with her ex-husband, though I like how she has a spine; she's up front about what happened between them, doesn't seem to hold him any ill will, but neither is she just pining after him.
- One thing that bothers me, especially early on, is the coincidental meetings that kept happening everywhere one of the four characters -- Yun Seong, Na Na, Yeong Ju, and Sae Hee -- went. Seriously, Seoul is not that small a city.
- I totally want to live there (Seoul), though. This show in particular makes it seem so gorgeous. Who wants to move there with me?!
- I totally feel sorry for Kyeong Hee, but seriously, JUST STOP BEING SO USELESS. Fucking turn Jin Pyo in! Or see that your son is right under your nose! And fucking stay in the fucking hospital when you have leukemia, omg.
- I fluctuate between hating Jin Pyo and totally understanding why he's doing what he's doing. Of course I think Yun Seong is ultimately right, but I can understand Jin Pyo's desire for vengeance. The problem, of course, is that he doesn't see that by allowing innocents to die in his quest for revenge, he is basically doing what the 5 political members did -- just in the name of a different cause. Only by the law, Yun Seong's method, can true justice be dealt. Just when I think I might empathize a little with Jin Pyo, he says stuff like how he'll kill even Yun Seong to get his revenge, and then I'm like, done with him. I mean, the reason he's alive is because of Mu Yeol, who died to save him. And to repay that, he fucking ruins Mu Yeol's son's life?! And now says he'll even kill Yun Seong if he gets in the way?! OH YEAH, WAY TO BRING REVENGE TO YOUR DEAD BEST FRIEND. RUIN HIS SON'S LIFE AND THEN KILL HIM. What a tool.
- As Bae Man Doek's case shows, good people can do bad things. But conveniently, all the politicians who were involved in the betrayal continued to do other bad things as their political careers went on. The only exception perhaps being the President.
- Random note... I'm pretty sure that the girl Yun Seong is with when he first meets Na Na is one of the Three Beauties from BOF. Or if it's not, she totally looks like one of them.
Now for some screencaps!

Lee Min Ho is such a cutie. I mean, not only is he hot, he's just adorkable at the same time. That's partly why he made such a good Jun Pyo.

Well, HELLO, Mr. Prosecutor (the one on the right, not the left). 99% of the time we see him in a suit, but I couldn't resist sharing this one all-too-brief shot of him that we got to see without his shirt on.

Maybe Kim Na Na annoys me because I want to be Kim Na Na.
I couldn't get Death Note Vol. 7 from T. yesterday, due to all the snow. :/ (Reports are that my area got 7 inches!) I've ordered it from B&N and it should be here in a day or two, but the snow might stop that also. I don't know if the USPS still abides by their motto of delivering the mail through all kinds of inclement weather.
Also due to the snow my mom and I ended up going to Boiling Point (we went like 5 or 6 times while she was here; we LOVE that place) instead of Lola with K. Thankfully her flight wasn't canceled, the big snowstorm didn't come in until yesterday.
Tonight I'm supposed to go to Spring Hill's fried chicken dinner with the two Ks and C. I really want to go and also try out my drama-Korean on K and C, but it's still lightly snowing outside so I don't know if I want to make the trek all the way out to West Seattle for it. It would be lame of me not to, though, since it's a set dinner for 4 people. Sigh, why couldn't this have happened next weekend, when I have nothing planned?!
