Totally into it so far. :D I've gotten further with this book than any other fantasy novel I've tried since I began this quest, and I actually look forward to reading it.

I don't hate Catelyn, but I sure don't like her. She was boring/OK until the Bran falling incident, and when Jon Snow came to say goodbye and she was such a bitch, and then telling him that it should have been him, I was done w/ her. I understand being bitter about your husband's bastard, but come on, he fathered Jon when they barely knew each other, AND in this universe it's a fairly common thing.

Very curious to know who Jon's mother is and what that story is.

As you can prob tell, so far my favorite character IS Jon, with Tyrion Lannister a close second. I can't believe he had anything to do with the guy who was sent to kill Bran; that has to be Jaime Lannister/the queen's doing. Still, why do the direwolves react so negatively toward him? And obviously he has a soft spot for Jaime, and is a Lannister. Yet nothing we've seen of Tyrion actually shows him to be evil; quite the opposite, in fact.

It was quite exciting when Tyrion bumped into Catelyn and Ser What's-His-Face at the inn and she got all those guys to draw swords on him. Haven't gotten much past that yet.

Poor, poor Bran. Feel really bad for him, poor kid.

Dany's story is interesting too; loved seeing her come into her own and show up her annoying brother. Still, what does this storyline bode? Will she or her progeny (as she's now pregnant) fight for the throne? It doesn't seem that likely, since she's now come to the realization that her brother will never get the throne back, nor does she want him to, and seems to be happily settling into her new life, and yet if that's the case, why even write about her? Obviously something has to happen. Plus the whole, we're the rightful king/queen thing is a good source of tension/political intrigue.

Just got to the part where Varys reveals himself to be more than the sickening eunuch that Ned/everyone else thinks he is. That was a pretty cool reveal. Don't know what to make of Petyr, the dude who fought Ned's brother Brandon for Catelyn way back when. The way he focused on Sansa at the tourney was kind of creepy.

As for Robert, it's like, oh God, I hope he comes to his senses and doesn't let the treachery of his wife/his family be his downfall.

If you've read the book/the series, try to refrain from spoilers. Thanks!!
