Oh yeah, crap. [livejournal.com profile] jade_okelani tagged me to do this meme, and I'd ignore her except it's hard to ignore someone who's recovering from having an organ removed. So fine.

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

Honestly right now I feel like everything I've ever written is crap, but I guess these are the ones I'd choose:

If you read any of these, particularly the non-HP ones, you have to be very forgiving, okay? Don't judge me.

The Absence of Memory (as Narida Law)
Fandom: The X-Files
Rating: R
Summary: Salvation comes in many forms.
Why I like it: It was an "improv" story in that two friends (Jade and Brandon, who has since passed on) came up with 3 random elements each, and I had to incorporate them into the story. We also had a short timeframe in which to write it. I'm really bad with stuff like that, and deadlines, so it was a huge challenge. One of Brandon's elements was post colonization, a sub-genre of XF fic that was one of my favorite types of stories to read. So I had the added pressure of making it worthy of being post col. Given all that, the fact that I wrote it and it didn't totally suck is a complete miracle. It was also the most 'meta' fic I'd written at the time.

Look the Other Way (as Giselle Mossant)
Fandom: Smallville
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Wherein Lex and Lana say goodbye.
Why I like it: I just like the "mood" of the fic. This was the second (and it turned out, final) story in what was going to be a series. I barely remember my Smallville fandom days, and don't remember writing any of my Smallville stories at all, which makes these particularly fun to read (for me).

The Choices We Don't Make (as Sarea Okelani)
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Doesn't have one, as it's only 567 words.
Why I like it: The one and only story I ever wrote in this fandom, and it was Andrew who inspired it.

A Bed Made For One (as Sarea Okelani)
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG-13
Summary: And in the darkness bind them.
Why I like it: It's really hard for me to write stories like this, where it's so mood based and dark. I tend to go fluffy, so going against my instincts to get something more 'serious' out is always a challenge. And because I work so hard, I tend to appreciate the results a lot more. :P

Kissing Booth (as Sarea Okelani)
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG-13
Summary: It's all for charity.
Why I like it: It makes me smile. It's incredibly short and fluffy, but it's a great pick me up. Even though the premise is so guilty pleasure, I'm really glad I wrote this one.

Wow, I used to be all creative and productive and what not. Kind of makes me want to be like that again.

I've read all your HP stories, and honestly think that you are a really good writer. I'm looking forward to reading the rest that you have written in other fandom's. As long as the writing is good, I can enjoy just about anything. :)

Thanks! :) But don't say I didn't warn you about the others... I learned a lot about writing as I went from fandom to fandom, that's for sure.

Didn't I do fanart for Kissing Booth because I was so inspired by it?

OMG yes, I even meant to say that in my blurb for it! D'oh!! The masterpiece is here (http://www.vanishingscroll.com/okelani/images/fanart/kissingbooth-akscully.jpg).

HI-larious.

:)))) I forgot that Harry had no pants. But I guess it doesn't matter since everyone else is wearing see through clothes.
