more K-drama
Jan. 19th, 2018 11:48 amI've started Strongest Deliveryman. It's one of those strange dramas where the premise isn't very clear, but I loved Go Kyung-pyo in 1988 and I like Chae Soo-bin (now), and it's got good reviews, so I wasn't at all opposed to it, even if GKP has really terrible hair in it. It took me awhile to actually start it, though, because of the aforementioned lack of info on what the story is actually about, other than the fact that he's apparently a deliveryman.
Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I got into it. I don't know why he has that terrible hair, and I reallllllly hated the second male lead for two full episodes, but he's grown on me. I am not super crazy about Chae Soo-bin's character, but one of the things she does that rubs me the wrong way is less about her character and more about Korean society in general, so I'm trying to keep that in mind. The second female lead is okay -- I actually like her more than I was expecting to. What's weird though is that right now, any of these people could end up with anyone else in the foursome. There were points when I wondered if GKP and CSB were not each other's love interest at all!
I've also watched the latest episodes of I'm Not a Robot, and I just loooooooove it so much. It's not a perfect drama, but it just gets to me. It's been so funny, and yet the last couple of eps have been heartwrenching. Like everyone else, I just want Kim Min-gyu to be happy. :'((((( There's only 4 more eps and then it's over next week! I can't wait to see Yoo Seung-ho in something else, preferably a modern drama and not a sageuk.
Some upcoming dramas I'm excited about and why:
- Life: The writer of Forest of Secrets has a new medical drama. Actors: Jo Seung-woo, who played the main protagonist in Forest of Secrets, and Lee Dong-wook, who played the Reaper in Goblin. I'm so on board with this one! Also in the article it was revealed that there's actually going to be a Forest of Secrets 2! GASP.
- Suits: A Korean remake of the American show -- so hopefully it will be even better since there will likely be a beginning, middle and end. I only saw a few eps of the American version and can't remember what I thought of it, but it must not have been all that captivating. But what's got me into this version is the fact that Park Hyung-sik is going to be playing the young legal genius.
- Miss Hammurabi: It's some sort of courthouse drama, and it stars L and Go Ara. Which seems to me a bit odd of a pairing, because I still think of L as being super young, but apparently he's going to be playing a judge on the show, so... O.o Whatever, I still think he's hot, and I like Go Ara a lot better now, after Black and Hwarang. Still, L isn't the best of actors, so it really makes me feel bummed that he's getting all these roles when Sungjae has yet to announce his next drama. :/ (I have no idea if Infinite is still an active band. I think it is, which makes it even more perplexing to me why L can make time to do all these dramas and yet Sungjae, who is a better actor by FAR, can't. :/ I'm sure there are real reasons that have nothing to do with deliberately wanting to disappoint me, but because I don't have visibility into it I can only cry in the corner and ask Why? WHY? over and over again.)
- Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food: I don't know either of the actors in this, but I like noona romances and I like food, so I'm there for this until it shows me it's unworthy.
