Today has been my most symptom-free day yet, hurrah!

The broccoli soup was a disappointment, sadly. It wasn't thick and the flavor, while okay, was not what I was looking for. Alas, back to the drawing board on this one. To make up for it though, I did make a really good n-layer dip. :D I'm sure many people will be partaking in n-layer dip this weekend during Super Bowl parties. Next on the recipe horizon: Brown Sugar & Almond Coffee Cake, from the Macrina Bakery and Cafe Cookbook.

I almost won tickets to the Super Bowl. Well, I had a chance to win tickets to the Super Bowl, with very good odds. At work they were giving away 2 tickets to the Super Bowl along with airfare -- all you had to do was purchase raffle tickets, as many as you wanted. All the money would be matched by the company and donated to the American Red Cross to help with Haiti relief efforts. There were less than 116 tickets sold, and I donated enough for 4 of them. That's a 1 in 29 chance! Sadly not good enough, as I didn't win. A woman on my team did though, so that's pretty cool. While it would have been fun, it would have also been stressful to have to figure out hotel accommodations, pet care, etc., so last minute, so I'm consoling myself that way. It's probably for the best anyway, since I don't even know who's playing. LOL. The good thing is that it spurred me into doing something I was planning to do anyway.

We're moving offices next week and I could not be less happy. Our new VP is into open spaces, so now our entire group is going to be in a cubicle situation rather than having our own offices. I don't even mind the cubicle thing; I do like the more social aspect to that ... it's losing the privacy. Now taking breaks to surf news sites/Facebook/LJ will be next to impossible, with my manager and manager's manager sitting about 10 feet away from me. Not to mention I'm losing my window office. And now it'll be far more difficult to come and go as I please for appointments or lunch or working from home. Argh. It's gonna suuuuuuuck.

I've been reading Under the Banner of Heaven, by Jon Krakauer. It's about the origins of the Mormon religion, focused particularly on Mormon fundamentalism. And -- wow. At the risk of totally offending someone of that faith, I just have to say how amazing it is that it's got the reach it has, when it was basically made up. By some guy. With a great imagination. It just makes me even more skeptical of religion in general (and now I've probably offended a great many more people).

This is going to be a tough week for me (coming up); I can tell. And there are no signs of my stress abating. Times like these I really wish I were a teenager again, with no responsibilities but studying.
