March Madness
Mar. 20th, 2009 08:58 pmOn the off chance that anyone is watching or keeping track of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament...
WTF Wake Forest? Totally getting owned by Cleveland St. Which, who ever heard of Cleveland St.? Not even beaten. Totally owned. WF losing kind of ruins my bracket in the Midwest but it doesn't really matter because I'm pretty sure everyone else in my pool had WF moving on also. I think one person had them in the Final Four. OMG someone even had them in the finals. Ouch.
Come on Wisconsin! I have you in my Sweet 16! If you lose it'll break my bracket. Oh God the game is tied, my heart can't take it. And they're going into overtime. Ughghghgh.
Another nailbiter between Ohio State and Siena. These close games are fun to watch for people who have nothing on the line. I have $10! Come on Ohio State, just squeak out a win.
The funny thing is that I haven't even been following basketball season. UCLA, my team, seems even more unpredictable than in previous years. The only reason I care now is because I entered my office pool and I like to WIN. And the only reason I entered it is because my manager is running it this year, and I wanted to show my support. He knows I've been into March Madness in the past, so to not play this year, his first year running it, would seem like a slight. And slighting your boss (or at least how he might perceive it as such)? Not really a good idea. Besides, he totally taunted me. I couldn't take that lying down. Or sitting. Or in any kind of posture, really.
Oh yeah, and you want to hear something funny/sad? I didn't even choose my own bracket this year. Since I haven't been following basketball I didn't have an inkling as to who might be good this year, so when I read an article about a computer that had predicted last year's Final Four and NCAA champion correctly, I found what it predicted this year and filled out my bracket accordingly. It's been OK so far, it definitely hasn't gotten everything right, but I think I'd still be where I'm at even if I'd just randomly chosen teams myself. Time will tell though, it always does.
OMG and Wisconsin wins it!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! /dance
Ugh and Ohio State just lost to Siena. Now I get to do this all over again tomorrow.
