So my parents' housewarming gifts to me are a fridge and a dining set. The fridge I've already gotten, because that was uber necessary, but I've lived without a formal dining set for a long time so I'm not as rushed on that. Still, my mom's been pestering me to get it done, so I've been looking at dining sets. One of the places I looked was the classified section in our company newsletter, where you can get a lot of great used stuff from rich people for much less than if you were to buy it from the store.
Witness this awesome dining set that I would really, really like: See the pretty.
The whole set -- table and all six chairs -- is $450. I would imagine they paid at least four times that, but they're moving so it has to be gone. The reason I'm not going to get it is because the marble top weighs about 300lbs (they still have the crate that it came in), and I'd have to hire movers and what not to move it from their place to mine; it wouldn't really match my house at all; I'm not sure it'd fit through my doorway; and most important of all, this is supposed to be a gift from my parents to me, and my mom doesn't like it. Why? Because it's "used." *facepalm* I'm like, Mom, I bet they never used that table. Or if they did, it was like once a year. But she doesn't care.
Whoever gets it is so lucky. What a steal.
