Pics from yesterday and D/G fic exchange!
Aug. 5th, 2005 03:27 pmOkay, so the pictures from yesterday.
1) O.o at how analytical you all are!! In this case, unnecessarily so, since all I really wanted to know was a) whether the pics moved for you, and b) if so, how fast they moved. Now, granted, people's ideas of 'slow' and 'fast' may not be identical, but I think the general concepts still stand. At least, I would hope that if something were spinning uncontrollably you wouldn't be all, "Um, slow."
2) Yes, the pics were static. Meaning, they were not animated .gifs. If you want to call it an optical illusion, I suppose that's what they are. But that wasn't the 'secret.' (If I'd known anyone would be unsure, I would have just said it in my last post. <g>)
3) What it's supposed to mean: There's no scientific basis for this as far I can tell, but this was supposedly a measure of how well you can handle stress. What the email I received said:
The pictures attached are used to test the level of stress a person can handle.
One teacher said, "I felt like they were all moving...but slowly. Kind of like, they were breathing."
The slower the pictures move, the better your ability of handling stress.
Criminals that were tested see them spinning around madly; however, senior citizens and kids see them standing still.
Interesting idea, even though I don't know if any of it is true. <g> But really, the main reason I didn't want to tell you guys what it meant right off the bat is because if any of you saw them spinning crazily, I wanted to have time to pack up my things and move far, far away from you.

I wanted to pimp a D/G Fic Exchange that's being sponsored by
applecede and
inkpuddle. :D It sounds super fun, and I hope many of you will consider participating. I'm still debating on whether I will or not, NOT because I don't want to, but because I have waaaaay too much stuff going on in RL at the moment that will keep me from writing -- I'm going to be closing escrow on my new house, then moving, then going to the east coast for two weeks -- otherwise I'd do it for sure. If there's another exchange after this one, I'm sure I'll participate. This is the first time, as far as I know, that there's been a fic exchange for D/G, so it's pretty neat and exciting!
