Jul. 2nd, 2004 04:20 pmGuess what I've been doing nearly 24/7 for the past, I don't know, two weeks? Working. Guess what I'll be doing for the next 48 hours, a holiday weekend? Working. Sort of. Being on call is the same thing. It's always hanging there, in the back of your mind. Last night I had dinner w/ Karen and Danielle. Right before we were going to watch PoA, I got a call from work, telling me something was coming in. Fretted about it during the entire movie. Turns out it didn't even come in until 1am. I was up until 2am dealing with it. AND THEN WOKEN UP AT 6:30am to deal with it some more. Ohmygod I so hate my job.
All right, enough bitching about that. I have other things to talk about that are far more important.
Like the fact that
ropo will be visiting in August! She's purchased the plane tickets and everything! Wheeeee! I have come up with a list of places we can go to eat, because she is v. picky and I'm currently on a no-fast-food diet. I know everyone's going to want to come here now, just to meet Robbie.
Re: PoA for the second time. This movie makes me ship H/Hr like nobody's business while I'm watching it. And R/Hr, a bit. But it doesn't really stay with me post-watching. Tom Felton is so hot in it. He's not as hot when he's not Draco. <g> Karen and Danielle (who's just returned from a 6-week work trip to London; wish my job would send me abroad) hadn't seen it before, but afterward they were like, "How can there be dissenting opinions about how much that rocked?" Since they are not fandom people, all I could say was, "Believe me, there are." And since I didn't have to pay attention this time around, I was better able to study Alfonso's direction ... and really, he's just such a gorgeous, careful filmmaker.
I also saw Spider-Man 2. It was eh for me. I loved the first one, and knew it would be hard to live up to. From what I saw of the trailers for the sequel, I thought it was severely lackluster ... and unfortunately the movie itself didn't really change that impression.
And finally ... Meg Cabot has a book club! It's at http://www.megcabotbookclub.com/. Her first book selection is -- Away Laughing on a Fast Camel, by Louise Rennison. Yes, the latest Georgia Nicolson book that I just recced. I kid you not. Meg and I, we're likethis. :))
Psst, guess what I have on VCD now? Hint: icon.
