There are moments -- few and far between -- that renew my faith in humanity. It doesn't take much to do such a thing, believe it or not. But on a daily basis, I go about doing my own thing, and I feel like everyone else is doing their own thing, and never the twain shall meet, you know? But sometimes, someone will do something beyond the call of duty, and it just makes my day. I'm not talking about gay marriage in Mass., although that is fab. I'm talking about something much smaller, but also significant in its own way.

The other day, I asked my office neighbor whether he had a copy of the NY Times from last Thursday, because I'd forgotten to get one. He said he definitely had the two most current issues, but I didn't need those. So today I was going to call the NY Times to order a back issue (for $5.75! :O), but when I got back to my office, there it was, a copy of Thursday's NY Times, sitting on my desk. And it just made me all verklempt! I mean, I know, it's a small, small thing -- I could have gotten a copy of it without much trouble. The thing is, if he'd just had it handy in his office, that's one thing ... but how cool was it of him to remember, and find it, and bring it back for me? I mean, I hadn't even made a big deal of it, just asked him offhand if he had a copy -- nothing that would make him, or anyone, go through the trouble of finding it. And maybe this is just a sad commentary about the kind of people that I deal with regularly that I would be so overcome by this gesture, but I can't help it.

One of my guilty pleasure movies is Pearl Harbor, which is, believe it or not, one of Michael Bay's better films, though it's so lacking in almost every other way that it deserves all the flak it gets. However, I've seen it often enough (due to a passing crush on Josh Hartnett) that it's been elevated to 'guilty pleasure' status, meaning I enjoy watching it even though I know perfectly well how bad it is. HOWEVER, I haven't seen it since I started to love Alias, and last night I just had to watch it so I could see Jennifer Garner!! When Jade told me that she was in it, I placed her right away, although I had never realized it before. She's so different. I did like her character more, though. <g> Oh! And one of the pilots was Colin's twu wuv in Tigerland! Heehee.
