recipes, Dreamcatcher, CA election
Oct. 8th, 2003 10:44 amGood lord, Arnold's CA's governor. Amazing. I really have no feelings about this whatsoever. I can't say I'm surprised, nor can I say I'm disappointed. If people were unhappy with the old regime, let's see what the new regime can do. CA's such a mess, it's not as though he could do that much worse, right? This snippet from the LA Times made me laugh, though:
UCLA philosophy and law professor Herb Morris voted against the recall at his Brentwood polling place. But the night before, the registered Democrat said, he had a troublesome dream that made him pessimistic about his party's chances.
In the dream, intruders had broken into Morris' house, and he panicked — until Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared. Morris embraced the dream-Arnold and was suddenly overcome by a sense of safety and stability.
Morris, 75, reckoned Schwarzenegger was having a similar effect on the subconscious of many California voters.
"I woke up realizing what a strong appeal he has — what a strong emotional pull," he said. "Deep down, [voters] are so anxious. And they're bored."
Yeah, boredom is always a good reason for throwing an incumbent out of office. If only Gray had encouraged Arnold to make more movies to entertain people, this whole recall might not have happened.
Jade, I watched Dreamcatcher w/ my mom last night. ( spoilers )
The following recipes are for
lissinthecity, who asked for holiday-type foods, and for anyone else who might be interested. There are few things in life I love more than food, so if anyone reading this has I-can't-do-without-this recipes of any kind to share, I want them.
( Devon's Pumpkin Shizam )
( Cornish Game Hen )
( Cocktail Meatballs )
Am also a great lover of chili and have many chili recipes, though there is one in particular that I've been meaning to try. Now that the weather is colder, seems like the perfect time to experiment! I have always wanted to attend a chili cook-off but sadly have never had the opportunity.
