Won't You Play Some Quidditch With Me?
At the right is the poster I've been wanting for ages and ages, but it's only been released in France. I saw it for the v. first time on eBay a week ago, and it just sold for $68. Waaaahhhhhhh!!! It will NEVER, EVER be mine. But it should be mine. <sniff> Why don't they just print up a zillion of them, along w/ the ones of Harry, Hermione, and Ron, and sell them all over?? They'd make a bazillion dollars!! Stupid French poster.

And the spending madness continues. It was about 7:30pm last night and I was online (my DSL mysteriously returned; I'm not sure if it's back, or if it was a fluke that it was gone), when I realized that I had meant to go to Costco after work to see if I could get FotRX for $21.99 like Jade did. (Online, it was $25.49.) So I rushed to Costco, found that it was indeed going to be $25.49 (le sigh), and also grabbed the Chicago soundtrack.

There was a guy behind me in line, rather unkempt; he looked like a cross between Jon Lovitz and Dustin Hoffman. He saw the soundtrack and was all, "Have you seen the movie?" "Yes," I enthused. "Did you like it?" he asked. "It was great," I said. He didn't add any commentary to this; I thought he asked either because he had seen it also or because he was thinking about seeing it. "I think it's going to win the Oscar," he said in the same kind of no-emotion way. "Oh, really?" I said. "Well, I haven't seen it, but yes," he answered. So, you heard it here first. Crazy Guy at Costco says Chicago will win Best Picture at the Oscars.

Have just spoken to the Verizon people. They're like, "Uh ... you can use your DSL? But I'm showing here that your account is on 'Slow' which means that you shouldn't be able to." And then there was just silence on both ends.

Oh dear lord. Liss rec'ed a Ron/Pansy story that I just had to check out -- and it is so. unexpectedly. good. I don't think I'll necessarily be into Ron/Pansy from now on, but this story just worked. Utterly delightful to read, even if I had to put up with Draco being paired with people other than Ginny. <g> Well, at least he was a slut and wasn't hopelessly devoted to Millicent or anything. Plus, he was so Draco, and I love that just about anywhere. Anyway, I think the key was that she made me like Pansy; really like her.

Fic here: http://www.restrictedsection.org/load/story.shtml?/8/flameand.html

A non-spoilery clip from the story that just had me on the ground:

Ron came home from work on the day of the dinner party and Pansy seized him by the robes and tried to stuff him back in the fireplace.

"Pansy!" he spluttered. "What are you doing?!"

"Get out!" she hissed. "Go away!"

"I live here!"

"All right," she wailed, "then go blind and deaf! How do I put out an oil fire?"

"What?"

"Water just made it worse! You didn't like those curtains, did you?"

"What?"

"Or the wallpaper. Tell me you didn't like the wallpaper, who could like that wallpaper?"

"Pansy. What happened? I thought you said you could cook!"

"I can cook!" Pansy screamed. "I spent all day making out that menu, and then I gave my orders to the house elf that lives in the special box!"

"Oven," Ron corrected absently. Then his brain caught up with his ears. "The house elf!"
