So. Life kinda sucked this week, as per my whinging earlier (you may have noticed). This was mostly due to work -- as in, too much of it, stress, long hours, blah blah. But! The men in my life have done me right lately (alas, none of them a bf type, but you can't have everything). Witness:
My boss, T.: Telling me that I should think about taking a paid day off for how hard I've been working lately. Score! So I think I'm going to take Monday, which is also conveniently Nov. 1. :D
My ex-boss, who I still work with from time to time, D.: Sending an email that let me know that my work has really been appreciated. Wow. V. nice coming from him, since one of the issues I always had when he was my manager was that he never doled out praise and I never felt like anything I did was good enough.
My boss's boss, P.: Asking me all sorts of random questions about what I do, etc., making me think that he has to defend my job to someone or something, and prompting the question that is ever on my mind -- "Are they going to fire me?" (Whether the signs are good or bad, I always think this.) Anyway, so then T. told me that P. was nominating me for our monthly achievement award! :O If I win, I hope it comes with a gift certificate of some kind. :))
My dad: Possibly flying up to see me for my bday weekend. W00t! Only then that means I have to clean, and have no time whatsoever to write. :-S
My brother: Well ... I just hope he remembers. <g>
You know how, when you watch movies you used to LOVE, it's the most disappointing thing ever when they don't hold up?? That's happened to me a couple of times recently ... I used to love The Hunt for Red October and First Knight, but on rewatch they were both bleh (I still love the story of THfRO, but the movie just wasn't what I remembered; as for FK it was amazing I ever liked it, considering I didn't like Richard Gere or Julia Ormond). I'm happy to report that Crimson Tide does hold up to the test of time ... and no doubt I'll be going through all my old VHSes to weed out some more. One of my favorite movies, despite disliking Kevin Costner, is Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (I mean, Alan Rickman is SO brilliant in it), but I'm afraid to watch it now in case I don't like the way I used to. :(

Date: 2004-10-29 10:45 pm (UTC)Hmmm... I sort of know what you mean about re-watching movies. I think that's why I tend to watch the ones I buy A LOT... but then again, I'm a DVD junkie!! LOL!
As for Robin Hood... it's still good. I'm like you. Kevin Costner is not on my tops list, but Alan Rickman really was wonderful and all the other actors and actresses were brilliant as well. Not to mention I just loved the costumes and scenery and castles!!!
*hugs*
