You know what LJ ought to have? Search parameters for one's journal. Have it be a paid member feature or something. That would be far more useful than, say, phone posts, which I still don't get wtf the point is. Because being able to search my LJ would ROCK. I'm sure it's horribly complicated, but one can dream. At the moment, I suppose you could search your journal using Google, but that would mean you'd have to open up your journal to be spidered/indexed, and not everyone wants that.
Edit: It has been pointed out, by someone with far more observational skills than me, that LJ has a way to do this (by clicking on the magnifying lens icon on the userinfo page). While I admit to ignorance about this 'feature,' after having tried it, I can safely proclaim it to be utter crap, and now will specify my plea to something "LJ maintains" and that "actually works."
Found out that one of my coworkers (who used to work in D.C.; we might even have been there at the same time though we didn't know one another) once had to fire Linda Tripp, before she got her job wherever she was when the Monica thing came out. Trippy huh? Oh come on, you know you love my bad punning.
Did I ever tell you I worked on the Hill when Clinton got impeached? Yeah, even though we were out of session and no doubt all I wanted to do was go home and write XF fanfic or something, I knew my dad would kill me if I missed out on this moment in history. So I went to watch the voting happen in the House of Reps. Thus, when I say I was there when Clinton was impeached, I mean I was there there. <g> Thank God I wasn't there when all that anthrax stuff was happening.

So I should hone my request for "a search engine made by LJ for the sole purpose of searching an individual journal, that actually works."
