WWW: All Aboard the Casting Couch

If you were given license to turn your favorite HP fanfic into a movie, which would it be? You're also the casting director -- do you have a dream cast filled with blockbuter movie icons, or have you made up original looking people in your head, "unknowns"? Do Dan, Emma, Rupert, and Tom fit the bill to a T? Is there another story you'd like to cast? Do your perceptions of the characters differ from fic to fic?
Hmmm ... this seems so obvious to say, but I'd kill to have the DT made into a movie. Or msscribe's "Ginny Weasley Thinks She's In Love" as part of a Red Shoe Diaries-type erotica. That would be lovely. <g>
In my head, the characters do not take on the characteristics of any actors I know ... not even the HP movie actors (though I don't have anything against them). I've tried to keep images of RL actors in my head when reading fic, but it never works; they always revert to the images I have in my head, which are an amalgam of official HP art and fanart. And in a way, I prefer that. It also can't be helped, because the characters actually change subtly depending on the fic I'm reading. I don't know why, exactly, given that Draco always has blond hair and gray eyes, and Ginny's always a redhead, but they do. Depending on the writer's skill and the way they have the characters interact, they often seem older or younger from story to story, and that affects how I see them in my head.
BUT -- if a story were to be made into a movie, then obviously RL people would need to be cast (because a cartoon version would just not be satisfying imho). Wheeee!
In specific instances, this proposed cast might not work, but generally I think these people would make good representations of the characters -- and I'm ignoring the "must be British" mandate, because I'm the casting director and I can. <g> (The assumption is that the characters are older/more mature, as they are typically featured in the kind of stories that I like best. Otherwise, I'm fine w/ the current movie cast -- including Tom Felton, who, to the consternation of my 25-year-old sensibilities, I find rather hot. Don't tell his parents.)
Draco: Ryan Phillippe (I wouldn't have really thought so until Jade and I saw "Igby Goes Down," in which Ryan basically plays Draco, with the white-blond hair and everything. It's scary.)
Ginny: Alicia Witt (her pic at the IMDB is v. Ginny, imho)
Harry: Kieran Culkin (if only he were a little taller; but for some, his shortness might work for Harry)
Hermione: Keri Russell (or Natalie Portman, if you want her to be ridiculously attractive and irresistible, a la the DT)
Ron: Hmm ... this one might have to be an unknown, as I can't think of a single red-headed actor the right age. Seth Green, if only he were way taller.
Snape: Alan Rickman (he's so Snape; no one can ever take that from him)
Lupin: Christian Bale
Sirius: Viggo Mortensen
Dumbledore: Ian McKellan
Lucius: Jason Isaacs (previously, I had kind of rooted for Jeremy Irons, but he's too old)
McGonagall: I like Maggie Smith, but I've always felt that she was too old for this role. I pictured her to be more around Snape's age. So, I'm open to any actress who could be made to look thin and severe.
Trelawney: Molly Shannon (if there is a Trelawney in the story, because I think MS would be perfect <g>)
Mkay, I guess those are all the characters I really care to cast. <g> Can't wait for more official casting news ... particularly that of Cho Chang, and whether or not she'll appear in the movie. I think it would be a total waste not to at least briefly introduce her (though, if Oliver Wood isn't around, maybe they're going to cut Quidditch entirely?), because it's Alfonso Cuaron and he can do =so much= with teen UST/angst in just a couple of frames. We'd just need five seconds of Cho in slo-mo Quidditch glory and Harry's mouth dropping open. Surely they can spare that. <g>
