Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Just went to the dentist for a routine cleaning/check up, and one of the spots on a molar she's been watching apparently doesn't look too good, so she's going to remove the filling and possibly replace with a full porcelain crown. The cost of this is roughly $1,500. My insurance is going to take care of $650 of it, which still leaves $850 for me. CRY. Currently my appointment is scheduled for late April because of her availability, but to be honest, if it has to be done, I'd rather it be sooner than later. Sigh.
Also, I swear the dentist my mom took me and my brother to when we were little was a total quack who only wanted our money. We didn't have insurance and paid cash every time, and it just so happened that we BOTH needed like every single molar filled before we even hit our teens. We had/have extremely good dental hygiene/habits. When my wisdom teeth came in, we were no longer seeing him, and nothing wrong has ever been found with them. So looking back, I find this all very suspicious. Plus there's the fact that one day he just disappeared, his office closed, without a word to anyone. And now I have all these stupid fillings, which are really only a stop gap, to show for it. GRRRRR.
BTW, this morning I was woken up in the wee hours by the bread machine. When I get something I like to try it out right away, so I decided to make bread with it, and try out the timer function at the same time, so that I could wake up to the smell of fresh-baked bread. Good in theory right? In practice, not so much. Whenever I cook food overnight, in the slow cooker, or in this case, the bread machine, I'll wake up in the middle of the night with hunger pangs. Does this happen to anyone else??? It's like I'm smelling it while sleeping and my body responds to it because I haven't eaten in hours, even though my brain wants to sleep, my stomach wants me to eat, and hurts like hell with ferocious hunger pangs. *facepalm* The good news though is that the bread machine works, and I was able to use the other model's instruction manual to good effect. :P
And now, the meme
mynuet tagged me for!
The Rules:
1. People who have been tagged must write the answers on their blog and replace any question they dislike with a new, original question.
2. Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.
1. Make a list of 5 things that you can see without getting up.
TV
Klean Kanteen water bottle
booooooooooooksssssssssssss
Wii
Xbox 360
2. How do you style your hair?
Usually I just brush it then let it part where it will, because I'm lazy. Since it's straight, there's not much else to do with it.
I wash it every other morning, both because it means I get an extra 30 min of sleep, and because I hear it's not good for your hair to wash it every day. It always looks best on a wash day, though.
If I have time (never on the weekdays, but sometimes on the weekend), I'll sometimes curl it using hot rollers or a curling iron.
3. What are you wearing now?
My favorite Aeropostale fleece pants, my 'duckies' t-shirt, and a fleece Patagonia jacket. Hey, it's friggin cold here.
4. What's your occupation?
Officially... "Senior Online Communications Manager"
5. What do you hear right now?
The downstairs baseboard heater.
6. What's your favourite guilty pleasure treat?
A pizza from Papa Murphy's Take and Bake (not to be confused with Papa John's). On Tuesdays they do "any pizza, any size" for $10, and I like to get either the garlic chicken or pick my own toppings (up to 5). I like extra tomato sauce, a bit less cheese, pepperoni, double mushrooms, spinach, and green onions. I also like broccoli and jalapeno on my pizza, but unfortunately Papa Murphy's doesn't offer those. :(
As far as pizza goes, Papa Murphy's is actually quite high quality. But it's a guilty pleasure because pizza in general as an adult is so sinful, isn't it? Well, maybe not for that lady who ordered Domino's every day, to the point where, when she missed a few days, her regular delivery person called the authorities and they busted into her apartment and saved her life. You guys heard about that, right?
7. What is/was for dinner?
Braised ox tail in tomato sauce over pasta. I haven't decided which kind of pasta yet. It's an adaptation of a recipe I saw for short ribs on Pioneer Woman's blog. But I didn't have short ribs, I had ox tail, so viola.
8. What did you do today?
See above re: dentist. -.-
9. Dog person or cat person?
I used to be a dog person all the way, but right now I'm a dog and Jaime person. Jaime is slowly getting me to expand my horizons and like other cats as well, however.
10. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?
Sarea!
11. What was the last thing that you bought?
NYX makeup from Cherry Culture. That's probably the last frivolous expense for awhile, considering stupid projected $850 dental bill.
12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I think China. I've always wanted to check out the place where my ancestors hail from, and eat the awesome Chinese food there. Or as they call it, "food." (Name that quote!!!)
13. Where do you see yourself in five years?
God, this sounds like our company self-assessments. I have no freaking clue, okay? Hopefully happy.
14. What's the last icon you uploaded?
The one I'm using for this post. It's one of Liana Hee's flapper girls that I cropped into an icon.
15. What are you doing this weekend?
Current plan is to walk around Discovery Park with new friend H. on Saturday, weather permitting. Coffee if not. No other solid plans atm, though I haven't seen K. or the kids in ages, so I'll probably try and make some time to do that. Plan to spend Sunday binging on Fringe so I can catch up to everyone else.
16. If you could play any musical instrument, which one would you play?
I took piano lessons for years, but couldn't really get much beyond, say, intermediate level playing. I'd love to be able to play it for real, but while I'm at it, I might as well also wish for my fingers to be twice as long as they are, because that's what it would take to get me there.
17. What's next on your reading list?
A whooooooole lotta manga (like Skip Beat!). Real books wise, I still need to read Clockwork Angel.
18. What are you doing tomorrow?
First thing in the morning I have a 1:1 meeting with my manager's manager. Then the day should get a whole lot better.
19. What are you looking forward to the most?
My Chicago trip!!! Please, airline and hotel fares, go doooooooooown so I can book you!
Tagging: Anyone on my flist who wants to do it! That's more than 8 people! I actually don't know who all has already done this meme, so if you haven't, consider yourself tagged. :P
